Like woe'd.
It's set up on a new server and the domain should be propagating. I just hired someone to check the galleries and work the trades a few weeks ago so traffic should be returning to normal soon. Yes, new galleries will actually be posted ;-) Traffic is fun as shit, isn't it? (TGPs, CJs, SEs). I miss it in a way but no time to work it myself anymore. |

Speaking of TGPs, there sure are a lot of gallery cheaters nowadays. Is it really worth it to submit a gallery and remove it as soon as it is listed? I would think it makes more sense to build relationships with TGP owners and make sure you get listed all the time.

I just programmed a new gallery checker that "learns" from which galleries were accepted and declined in the past and orders them accordingly making it more likely they'll be added. Do other people have that? Trying to find the right balance between that and "partner status" submissions. Does anyone do real-time submissions with partners? I'm going to try some new stuff for kicks. I just do this stuff for fun now. ;-) |
I post partner submissions the same day - actually within a few hours, as the pages are updated all thru the day by the linkchecker. Linkchecker polices the gallery lists, pulls any re-directing links, and rebuilds the pages. All day long. So it can be pretty close th real time. I don't like real time, since it puts too much of a load on the server, rebuilding the pages (I have a shitload of pages) each time a trusted partner submits.

Is your checker a simple rule based one, like checking which submitters have had lots of galleries listed, or does it use anything more advanced? On my todo list is something that also take into account click stats to list galleries with descriptions that are likely to do well higher in my review tool... Was thinking about using bayesian networks or a neural net for it. Will be interesting to see if it's worth the effort :) |

not my idea - it is just a feature of the admin scrip tI am using. And several admin script can do this. I'm just an end using grunt, amigo |

I was thinking about Bayes probability for a while but couldn't think of anything that made sense from a script sense. If you get something let me know ;-) [email protected] I tried various things - all kinds of crazy ideas - but ultimately the well-known factors like high quality galleries, site design, placement of blinds, loading speed, having a good system to keep trades alive through resets, etc. overwhelmed all the clever stuff I was trying. Eventually, I ended up with a REALLY simple script that just ordered all the outs according to uniques in. I'm not a great programmer by any means - it's only a hobby - so that decision was because I didn't know how to deal with the cgi hogging all the systems resources as traffic went up. I went from about 3k visitors/day to 80k in 30 days. I had no idea what I was doing programming-wise and slimmed down to the simplest version. |
