I asked because a drug that is approved in pill form is not necessarily safe when taken sublingually. When I was taking my paramedic courses we spent time in emergency rooms. One of the more common things you see there, especially in communities with lots of older adults, are people who've crushed up or chewed drugs that are supposed to be swallowed whole (usually time release blood pressure or painkillers), and ended up with some real ugly side effects.
