When you go over the age of 18, the growth gland called Thyroidal Gland (not sure about english spelling) which is located in the throat (or in middle of brain, dont remember) emits non-significant doses of hormones to encourage growth, simply enough to maintain body stability. So, you can gain fat or whatever but you can't grow taller. Your only fast grow period is from ~12 to ~18 (up to 20 for some people)
