Best thing you can do is wrap your toe in a bandage and wait for it to grow, you'll get used to the pain - take painkillers if it hurts and to sooth the pain try applying salt and vinegar to the open flesh.

Well, from this image, partial of the "body of the nail" has come off. It's come to the point if I nudge it hard, it will completely fall off.

I'm not sure if the nail bed has died, how can I tell?

I'm not trying to be funny..but if it's about to come off then just clip it off as far as you can. If you just let it hang it will end up getting infected..Clean it with peroxide and file it down as far as you can stand it. Then get some Vicks Vapor rub...(you know the shit you put on your chest) and put it on the Toe and Nail bed...Again I am not bullshitin' you...The Vicks kills fungus..and is the best thing for athlete's feet. :2 cents:

If your toenail is coming off it's because of a fungus infection in the toe.. :(

Thanks for the suggestion, the reason why my toenail is coming off is because of two reasons mainly:

1.) The dried-blood underneath my toenail.
2.) Playing basketball has further injured my toenail

Had the same thing happen in high school many moons ago.. Your toe nail is just like smashing a finger and the nail comes off...The only difference is toes are a great place for fungi..That shit can get under the toenail and thrive and spread...The tip was passed on by our coach..Just ask any "Old" school coach or athlete The vicks works better than any Athlete Foot Spray and it's cheaper. :thumbsup
