"Borrow" a copy of Partition Magic 7.0 from any of your favorite P2Ps

Partition Magic will allow you to convert it to NTFS, (altough unless you need network security, you are much better formatting it as FAT32), and then divide it into whatever blocks you desire ...

Partition magic is every good webmaster's good friend :thumbsup :thumbsup

download a windows 98 boot disk and run fdisk from the command prompt

I'm thinking that if he understood working with DOS prompts and disk formatting, he would not be here asking in the first place ...

My honest suggestion is to use Partition Magic ... very easy to use Windows UI, and it is pretty foolproof

Q: Is it possible to convert a FAT 32 Hard Drive to NTFS without losing all data on the drive? I like to change from fat 32 to NTFS, my system is XP PRO, how can i do that? Without the lost of my programs?
A: Standard Windows utility that is called CONVERT serves this purpose

Just go to the Command Prompt and execute the command:

C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs

Where C: is a name of the drive you want to convert.

After machine re-boot conversion process will start and you'll have your FAT32 converted to NTFS without of data loss.

I've got horror stories from using it, but for the most part its a great tool... be careful though coz it does like to fuck up sometimes and youll lose all your shit...

fixed!! re-formatting now.

thanks for the replies everyone :)

I already ahem, borrowed a copy of partition magic from a friend.

ploughed thru some help files and got the solution

1. delete partition (the big one I had)

2. convert to basic disc

3. partition, then re format.

thank god for that I can go to bed now.
