Do You Put Ice In Your Dog/Cat's Water Bowl?

My dog and cat love it.

Yep, in the summer, the dog loves it. The cats refuse to drink after him though, until they just get too parched and then it's with a great amount of reluctance and begrudging.

nocostporn 06-09-2003 03:39 PM

you shouldn't if they've been out in the sun for awhile...can send them into shock... momma's a vet,she use to yell at me for it

freeadultcontent 06-09-2003 03:41 PM

I tried it once but my nuts kept sticking to the cubes when I took a dump.

digifan 06-09-2003 03:54 PM

I do lol but my dogs prefer ice cream :)

Icy 06-09-2003 03:56 PM

I don't, else i'm sure in some days my two cats will start to ask me to put Jack Daniel's with that rocks & water.

Seaz 06-09-2003 03:58 PM

ya my cat loves iced water.... but he plays with it insted of drinking it

loverboy 06-09-2003 04:00 PM

haven't tried this one yet...

Dragonsxxx 06-09-2003 04:02 PM

nope, i don't, i do put alittle milk in my cats water though :)

my dogs prefer to drink from the rain collector i have in my garden than fresh water.......

Nina 06-09-2003 04:10 PM

you know I think I'll try that, maybe they'd actually start drinking from their bowl. Two of my cats prefer water running from the tap or in the bathtub and the other one loves drinking out of the fish tank (gross).

azrared 06-09-2003 04:13 PM

Even better that ice in the bowl is a kiddie pool kept in the shade for quick dips. Just make sure to change the water out every couple of days.

Yo Adrian 06-09-2003 04:14 PM

I did when I lived in Phoenix, it was way too hot for them.

For me or the dog?

;)

I run a block of ice over my cat's fur on really hot days, melts immediately and leaves a fine layer of water on their fur which helps to cool them as it evaporates. I read somewhere that cats are unable to sweat, is this correct?

my cat loves laying next to the toilet.

They aren't trying to drink the water

iroc409 06-09-2003 04:31 PM

The pool works for two legged creatures just as well as for our four legged friends.

pink_in_the_middle 06-09-2003 06:10 PM

Tyler loves ice lol :)

Kimmykim 06-09-2003 06:28 PM

My dogs love to play with ice cubes but they make a mess...

For outside they have an automatic water bowl that fills itself off the outside tap, so the water doesn't really get hot.

Nasty D 06-09-2003 06:32 PM

my dog love to play with ice cubes too, she throws them all over the kitchen!

Exactly!!!!

Fletch XXX 06-09-2003 06:36 PM

my dog only goes crazy with the ice cubes if get him excited about them, make him catch it, and tease him with it like a treat ya know.

But if I just place them in his bowl he doesnt go crazy and make a mess.

he did for awhile, but now he just knows to enjoy the coooool water.

heheh

:)

archer 06-09-2003 08:25 PM

one of my cats sits patiently by his water bowl every morning until i put at least one ice cube in it.

and he gets seriouosly pissed off if i forget.
