Easy really - Just discount it by between 80 and 95% like some of the others

Timi 06-09-2003 04:48 AM

Oh, forgot to tell you - You've gotta be a marketing genius to discount like that !!!

Take no notice of this guy. It's after lunch and need to say no more than. :glugglug

You don't need to discount that much to sell GOOD content. Unless you are some ace marketing man who knows the business inside out and intends to change the content industry.

But Amacontent thinks heavy discounting trashes content and makes it worthless. But what does he know, he's not a marketing ace. :1orglaugh

Two schools of thought here I guess. It depends if you spent a fortune, 100s of hours and put piece of you into creating it. Or you just come in with low overheads and nothing to lose.

ServerGenius 06-09-2003 04:58 AM

Sorry forgot to mention that apart from
Likewhoa

Sobegirl
is also BP4L! (butt probed 4 life)

ServerGenius 06-09-2003 05:09 AM

I was told not to post this but here are some of the points on the
agenda at this MasterClass:

1: how to sell content without having licenses.
2: bypassing the 18 U.S.C. '2257 laws
3: how to twist around verbal agreements
4: Sending meaningless fake contract/drafts for your own benefit
5: Message board ethics
6: A deep look into Pissfights
7: Defining new meanings to the Term Exclusive
8: Making up new compression methods and giving them names
9: Video Producer Lingo.....
10: Bar Mitswa and time for social networking.

Don't miss out people!

DynaMite :thumbsup

be held without the generous Sponsorship by Joe from

This is not fair on Crystal so here goes. And this is IMHO

The way to sell anything is firstly to get people to know you, it can be as a poodle licking up to them or as an Alsatian barking at things you think are wrong.

What you have to show is you are consistent and not just here for a few weeks then disappear again. To only re-appear when you have a new product to launch.

Then you have to show you are honest and straight and even when you make a mistake are prepared to pay for it.

Then there is the actual product, make sure that people get a good product not a good deal, cheap shit still smells. Make sure that when you get a client you keep them, put a piece of you into your work.

I'm one of the few guys here who is prepared to put his name next to his product. Even though someone else may have shot it it bears my name and I'm responsible.

Try to make your product a little better and a little different than all the others available. Style and class sells, even if it's in the amateur niche.

Then it is just time, when it's appropriate post a link to what you do, show people what you do. Be proud of it and be yourself, do not try to fit into a false character, be true unto yourself.

But the question was from me personaly - and i am new in this business. Denis

Loch 06-09-2003 05:59 AM

If your new in this business you got to be prepared for several things.
1. HARD work with next to no profit till you build up a name and reputation.
2. Keep at it although it might look a bit "Dark" after 6 months.
3. Have a cash buffer to keep shooting, no cash no go.
4. Make alliances.

Give the best service you possible can!
And not only for the "big" guys buying for thousands of $$$
IMO the little guys is just "if not more" important to our survival!
Keep your quality standards high or section out your crap, you do not want to be mixing the 2....

Oh yes I know these guys, they had a stand at the Amsterdam show. Had some cute girls on on it as well as I remember.

(1) Well one of the best ways would be to put a banner into your signature linked to your site.

(2) Then maybe some affiliations with other people supplying products to webmasters which are not in competition to yours.

(4) Target some people you actually want to do business with and phone them, or ICQ.

(4) Send some cute girls over to us.

(5) If you are going to Miami, with some girls do a sponsorship event where I shoot the girls and we have a perty.

(6) Send some cute girls over to me.

Personally I think 4 and 6 are the best ways but hope I've given you some ideas.

prostock 06-09-2003 10:34 AM

charly has alot of good things to say to you , and just rember like one said , never forget the smaller guys they are the ones that will for sure always remeber you ,
i always do my best to work with them cutt them a break and help they out , i am not a great big fish around here but i do hold my own and do pretty well and i can rember when i was very little and all was a big help

stay cool to them and if you fuck up be the first to admit it not let the other be the first , go to him and even the board and say and tell the pub hey i had a mess up or a fuck up what ever it maybe but man i am sorry and will make sure i make up for it 100 time fold ,
only threee times was i late with content , and i was in the hospital with lungcancer for two times and the other time my home got brok into and shit got stolen and they kind of fucked me , but that wasnt the buyer prob it was mine and i can promiss i made up for it to them big time and they are to this day more then happy ,

just my :2 cents:

Zappu 06-09-2003 11:40 PM

Some things Charly has forgotten:

7) Spam like hell as he is doing it

8) You have to shoot the Girls, because he is just fucking them

GrimShawn 06-10-2003 12:12 AM

Exposure man exposure!

Hit the boards, the shows, list links to the demo and etc, get people talking about it. Give it to a couple of bigger heads for free for a month or 2 on a trial basis, if they have no problems they will buy it and get a lot of other people wanting it! Everyone talks and if one person backs a product others will follow!

Paul Markham 06-10-2003 12:57 AM

Prostock has some good advice there. Ignore his spelling it's the message that is important. This business is about the little man as much or even more than the big man. One has 300 members and 5 sites and pays XX for your content, the other has 50,000 members and 20 sites and wants to pay the same or less.

Zappu also has some good points, remember this is an adult webmasters board and even though some of the posters think it's a playground and business is not to be discussed, it is for doing businees. And don't fuck the models till after the shoot, cream pie is a limited niche. :1orglaugh

Sassyass 06-10-2003 05:41 AM

Your on the wrong board to ask this question.
9 out of 10 posters here are 19-24 year old pot smoking wastes that run little TGP sites, got a hold of dream weaver and think they are programmers, and basically have ZERO to offer the business.
If you product is good, it will sell. Buy some advertising space, build a small site around your content to show pay site owning webmasters what you have, and then work you ass off to make them happy.

And when Lens states spam day, spam the shit out of your product.

Civic3D 06-10-2003 06:55 AM

Sorry but not so, there are some big players here. Plus a lot of people who understand business.

Not me though.

You might want to change your payment system to something other than paypal.

Why?
If I get shut down, I have my own merchant account that I can use. Just haven't bothered to change over my code.
If that was an attempt to cut me, it hurt.... real bad :1orglaugh
I can't believe that you would think less of someone who gets the job done using the path of least resistance.
Shows smart business sense..

You know if your not one of those that I have mentioned. But you must admit that what I said is correct. I'll be nice and say 7 out of 10.
