what do you think is the programming language to learn and why?

COBOL. because banks and state governments use it.

It really depends on what you're trying to do. Basic is a real handy one! :thumbsup

C/C++, PERL, PHP and Visual Basic because they are popular and useful.

PHP - Gaining popularity like crazy, and you can actually apply it to very useful tasks.

Perl and Visual Basic (or at least VBS)

I agree. I was thinkin of PHP and C/C++

qbasic, keep'n it real.

1. perl - highly portable. works on almost every system
2. php - easy to learn and pretty powerful
3. C/C++ - harder to learn but VERY powerful
4. VB if you want to make windows programs with GUI's and all that shit, otherwise VBScript is good too.

PHP and C#.

Strongest in ASP

2nd CGI/PERL

3rd PHP.

You forgot Pascal/Delphi and ASM

My personl opinion... Java sucks, Visual Basic sucks. It's just an opinion, perhaps you will not agree it, but I don't care if you agree my opinions or not.

php or c++ is a good place to start

but you gotta learn programming concepts as well.. after that, learning any language is a piece of cake
