about downloadable video content. What resolutions, what formats should I be looking for? What formats should I avoid? What software can I use to transfer from say wmv to other formats that's good?

wmv is `locked` ... as in, it`s not an editable format...
you will want to use some software like premiere or Avid... then it's edited.
once your stuff is edited, you will want to make 1-2-3minute segments, whichever you choose... or simply one big file..
you can either cut it from the editor (AVID or Premiere) or with any encoding software..
cleaner will do all formats for you.. mpg, wmv, asf, etc...
