how to ban altavista an google from my pages?
I'm getting a shitload of surfers from altavista and googles image-search functions to my galleries, and as fare as i understand it, they just suck up my bandwith without even seeing my sponsor ads.
So are there any safe way of banning the specifick url's like http://images.google.com/imgres and http://www.altavista.com/image/results and send the freeloaders directly to my sponsors or something, WITHOUT beeing blacklisted by the SE's... thanks, nat |

Does anyone know if including that "no index" meta tag on just one page of a site will cause spiders to not index the entire site, or just that one page?

How to prevent your image from being previewed If you do not want images of your site to appear in Search Preview, you have two options: Prevent all pages of your site from appearing in Search Preview by locating the file named Robots.txt in the root directory of your Web server and then adding the following text to it: (If your directory does not have this file, you can create it in Microsoft Word or Notepad and then use the Save As command to give the file the proper name and .txt extension.) User-agent: searchpreview Disallow: / The text should be added in two lines as shown above. -or- Prevent a specific page of your site from appearing in Search Preview by adding the following meta tag to the head section of the source code for the Web page: hahahahahaha name="robots" content="noimageindex, nomediaindex" /> [m e t a n a m e="robots" content="noimageindex, nomediaindex" /] change [ to greater than and less than remove spaces in m e t a n a m e |
BTW, does anyone know what kind of ratio SE-image traffic do? would be a bad idea to get rid of it if generates signup...
