Ironic foreshadowing before entering this biz?
 

Comedian Patton Oswalt does a good bit on ironic foreshadowing:

Like you're watching a movie about the Beatles, and in one scene an 8 year old Paul McCartney walks by a music store, looks up at a bass guitar and gazes briefly. And you go "oh, that's cool because he grows up to be..."

Patton says if his own life were a movie, he hopes it might be the moment he was in 3rd grade and drawing a picture of a rhino with a huge cock to make his friends laugh. Of course, he hopes the moment that made it ironic would be when his teacher grabbed it and said "what do you think are? some kind of comedian?"

But the thing about ironic foreshadowing is that you never know when it is happening, and can't possibly put it together until later in life.

So he hopes the thing that made it all ironic isn't that he was drawing the picture, and later in life he will fall into a rhino pit at the zoo and be sodomized by a well-endowed rhino.


It got me to thinking, any moments that, looking back, foreshadowed your own entry into this business?

When you fell into a gay bar and got gangbanged?

For me, were my life a movie, I can think back to:

Finding a copy of Club magazine when I was 10, and being fascinated by it--beyond a sexual level... I had seen Playboy before, but this was way over the top.

Being in junior high doing a video project, and thinking it would be a good idea to hide the video camera in the room when the girls were changing--it was a great idea, unfortunately I had the camera positioned two inches too far to the right and got nothing...

Later that year, seeing my first real adult movie, and wondering "who is that older hairy guy" and why is he fucking these hot younger girls?

Later, running the unofficial Ron Jeremy fanpage from 1995 until 1998 and hanging out with the man himself...

During that time, putting a few banner ads on the site, getting a sponsor check for $350, and thinking "why can't I make all my money this way?"

Around the same time (probably 98), my then girlfriend always bugging me to take pics of her and even saying "why don't we start a site?" and I am thinking "god, that sounds like way too much work--how would someone even do that?"

My foreshadowing event...I honestly do NOT recall this but my mother and father told me about this...anyway...I was about 3-4 years old and we were at a friend of the family's house.

I happened upon a hidden playboy collection and my mother caught me perusing the magazines. (btw I started reading really early, in fact was reading the newspaper by the time I was 5.)

Anyway she took the playboys away from me and I cried for the longest time.

Naked women has always been a keen interest of mine:Graucho starting off when I was about 5 or 6 playing house with the neighborhood girls. I actually had my first 3 some in the 6th grade. It was me and two girls in my class, Janet and DeeDee.
However Junior High was when I hit my dryspell and didn't get laid again until I hit high school.

I started sneaking into dirty movies *they used to show them at the drive-in in Fort Worth* when I was 16. I guess I wasn't really sneaking in as they just didn't give a fuck who they let in..LOL

Me and my buddies would score some beer and it would be a party at the Riverside Drive-In on Riverside drive. One of my all time favorite movies I saw there first. Through The Looking Glass.

I didn't get into the actual porn biz until June of 2001 during a time when I was doing some mainstream stuff and knew that was about to run dry.

If I had known back in 1995-1996 when I was surfing sites and newsgroups that basically ANYONE could start their own site, I would have been on it like white on rice.

Anyway here I am, I'm a pornographer and I love it. I hate the daily grind of gallery building but everything else I truly love.

I'm in this for however long I can stick around. If that's one more day or 30 more years only time will tell.

My granparents take credit for my success in porn.... Apparently I used to sneak my grandfathers playboys when I was a kid, 3-4... of course I had no idea what I was looking it.

In HS I had one of the larger porn collections, used to sell magazines as well to other kids - until a few people got busted. Went to catholic school... so its a no no.

I would think that most of my friends would have voted for me to be most likely to go into porn.... OF course I took the long route... 8 years total in college....

When I was in 7-8th grade playing hide and seek at my aunt and uncle's house I ran into my uncle's stash of Italian pornmags. We're talking pretty hardcore for the time, certainly for my first exposure: Pee, Anal, Bondage, Gay, Young Teen you name it, those italians are real perverts.

I had an arrangement with my cousin where I was selling these mags to school friends for verry nice profit and even had a couple of 'show and tell' sessions with the local girls, unfortunately I left the country the next year before I could reap returns on the 'show and tell' investment :(
