checks coming from bank of montreal
yesterday I went to a bank to deposit some checks . The bank employee told me that I had to pay about $15-16 for every check coming from bank of montreal. The thing is that it was 1st time I went to the bank to do this task, I always had someone else doing it. Is this normal? I don't see why only the specific bank has such fee and what's the logic behind it?

What bank are you doing biz with?

Asuna with a european one, I'm not in Canada. I know it's not the first time we deposit checks from this specific bank. We have a friend working there and he takes care of deposits etc
This time he wasn't there and the employee couldn't even deduct the # of 6 checks (6x$15 or so) from the deposits and requested me to pay the amount. Maybe our friend was able to automatically deduct the fee. No big deal, but it's a bit strange that they have a flat fee for every check. I don't know if anyother bank does the same. First time I'm noticing it. |
did they tell you it was specifically for Bank of Montreal checks? it might be for all canadian checks but your friend doesn't charge you.
