should tgps have an entrance/warning page?

well?

shermo 06-05-2003 03:22 PM

They should, but sites with low traffic sometimes can't spare to have one :(

It helps to have one as per google - If you have low traffic, still design your site for google and initially ensure all recips are to your content page

if you are in the US you better have one, i know some sites who got visits from federal agents recently.

Front warning page=more ad space

Please tell us more...

I've been debating on adding a warning page myself on all my sites. I was noticing that adult magazines still blur out nipples on their front pages so perhaps it would be best to do the same on our "Front Pages"...

I'm curious now. Why just TGP sites?

I think the idea is that TGP sites are among those least likely to have a warning page. Not that only they should have one.

I do worry, though, that if TGP sites had warning pages, that they losing 20% of their under-18 traffic to those who read them would mean losing almost 18% of their total traffic.

I have warning pages on all my domains. Never even contemplated going without one.

iroc409 06-05-2003 04:21 PM

yeah, i'd think it'd be a loss of traffic to an extent, but you could use it probably to better use mutliple banner exchanges, advertising space, etc. and, it'd keep the feds at bay...

that particular loss in demographic shouldn't really effect the site's productivity. we aren't marketing to minors, and they most likely aren't buying porn anyways...

You're worried about hardcore porn sites losing their underage traffic?

NBDesign 06-05-2003 04:40 PM

I look at it this way, These parents are not paying me to be a babysitter... let them look after their own kids...

Besides, if you cannot tell by my URL "Erotic Skins" that there may be nudity on the page(s) then I do not think a warning page would help...... :1orglaugh

Oh wait... I am not a TGP LOL Still.. parents need to take more responsibility for their kids and stop relying on everyone else to do so.....

What do you mean? The sites received visits or the owners?

Do you actually think those who are 18 or under really turn away from those warning pages? I certainly don't.
