Digital Camera Causing Reboot

Hey

My girlfriend got a digital polaroid camera, cant tell you the model right now, well anyway she has installed it on Windows XP and it worked fine for a few days.

Then when she set it to capture mode it rebooted the PC - every time, it would not allow capture mode (as in webcam).

Now when she even plugs the thing in it reboots the PC - every time!

I was hoping some clever dick on here would be able to tell me whats going wrong, as I cant think what it is, she lives quite far away so I havent had chance to look at it yet.

Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? If so what did u do?

Thanks for your time :thumbsup

i didnt know polaroid was up on digital. SO, when you take a pic, does a little disc with your pic on it shoot out the camera?

Try a system restore since you are using Windows XP to start with and see if it works like it did for those few days. If it does.....it may mean windows is loading some strange driver when you use it in "capture" mode that becomes the default from then on. If that is the case then look on the cameras website for an updated driver for that camera.

I could be way wrong but that is where I would start. I had a similar problem with a webcam that kept changing all of my audio drivers.

Try Polaroid Support they mention that some cameras do have issues with XP there. You may need to use the XP compatibilty feature to run in web cam mode you get to this area by right clicking the EXE of the program that is used for the webcam feature and try setting it to run as though it where WIN98.

Best of luck:thumbsup
