Which logo?

Which of these Blood Dolls logos is better?

The current logo:

Or this draft of a new one:

Any input is appreciated.

I know sites are about content, and it will always be my thing. Talking to two new models online as we speak, and I have more models lined up for this summer than ever before. :)

I just think the tour of Blood Dolls could be a lot better. Soon, it will be.

detoxed 06-05-2003 11:27 AM

they both suck

I was offering my advice, should I lie because I do design work?

Nope, I push Ian, have for a long time and regularly get checks from him, Im more concerned about that then some logo.

Oh, I probably should have said "text logo"... The old one has photos added. Eventually, the new one would have photo elements integrated as well.

a420 06-05-2003 11:43 AM

black logo with thumbs added.

AdultNex 06-05-2003 11:44 AM

2nd logo is more professional.

You have a nice brand going with a unique logo and distinguishable tour. I would never .. ever .. change that. It has it's own charm, and that second logo and color scheme would change all that.

I realize it's important to test tours and increase conversions. I wouldn't do that by changing the logo. I'd keep that and work on the other parts of the tour instead.

Just my :2 cents:

Brujah 06-05-2003 11:48 AM

Bah! You all suck.

TheViper 06-05-2003 11:50 AM

Are those good logo's ?

Brujah 06-05-2003 11:55 AM

Is this a good logo ? No.

It's a powerful logo in it's own respect though, and not because it's "pretty".

Both are very mediocre-

gothweb 06-05-2003 02:26 PM

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like if I weed out the people who don't care, or don't like either, the new logo is more popular.

On the other hand, I have two people who know my business pretty well telling me I shouldn't change it at all.

Damnit, guys! Had to make this hard.

Honeyslut 06-05-2003 04:33 PM

Keep the first one but change the blackground to black and make blood doll in red with dripping blood.. keep the cool pics but maybe add a few new ones.

That doesn't really sound like keeping the old one. ;)

Honeyslut 06-05-2003 04:37 PM

Oh, I like the first one.. Just think it would look more gothic with blood dripping LOL

gothweb 06-05-2003 04:55 PM

One big problem with the current logo is that it doesn't incorporate well into designs. The shape is too irregular. (I think that also makes it kindof hard to read.)

The thought is that Blood Dolls needs a new tour. The old one is getting outdated, and doesn't take full advantage of our most popular models. An update probably wouldn't do it, so it needs redesigning from scratch.

In doing so, I am not afraid to change the look. This started out as a side project, and is now my main gothic site. I want it to be the best possible site it can be. (Plus, even if I do a redesign, I can always keep the old tour for any affiliates who want it.)

Speaking of blood, how is this? (I know, the drop needs some work...)

Oh common, that's pretty cool artwork, yeah the Hun site is bland except for content but the cartoons are pretty swanky =)

Talshiar 06-05-2003 08:22 PM

The old logo has a very handcrafted-look. Which could be good for amateur sites. But I can see where it would be hard to incorporate it in various formats. It tends to look best against the white background...and there are times when you may choose not to have the background white. (black perhaps. LOL).

The new logo is far more dynamic and has an updated feel about it. I like it (sans the blood drip) It has the feel of bleached bones without being an obvious representation of bones. A subtle creepiness.

One note is that it looks good but at a smaller size your gonna have a tough time reading the type underneath Blooddolls.

I would also increase the red glow behind it just a touch. and bring the two words blood dolls a tad closer together. My:2 cents:

Nice work.

Thanks for the feedback. The plan is to update the drop of blood (if I keep it), and that smaller versions should drop the text underneath entirely. I also agree that the words may be a bit too far apart. Same sort of stuff I was thinking.

You saw the same "bleached bone" thing that I did. Vail thought it looked more silver. I guess implying either bones or blades isn't bad. ;)

Cheers

Sorry man... but both logos are suitable for a homepage of Mr. Smith... It has nothing to do with quality design. Get a good designer or forget abou changing logos and other stuff. If I want to buy some content the only thing that matters is the quality/price of pics.

Indeed 06-05-2003 08:42 PM

I prefer the black logo

harvey 06-05-2003 10:22 PM

I think your intended target will look for the combinations of red and black at first glance. Besides, all your sites uses that combo, so it gives you a sense of unity to all your sites, which, btw, are related by content, then why don't you connect them by design? with this told, black bg one is the obvious choice. Now, aside of the blood drip that doesn't look fine, the "gothic beauties..." should be worked a little. First, don't carve the white bg of that text. second, try to make the font more defined, you're not using black, but different shades of grey. If you want, send me the fonts and I'll do it for you, no charge :thumbsup

Looks like I should have waited until the new logo also had images added before posting this question... or posted the plain vanilla version of the old logo.

Brujah 06-06-2003 07:54 AM

Oh c'mon, that logo is plenty flexible. It doesn't always have to be used on a white background. When you find the right designer, he should have no trouble incorporating it into the new tour.
