creating a java based IRC chat
 

how hard would it be to do this? one of my favorite chats recently closed down so i was thinking of making my own for my friends, is there software i can download and install? how much resources would this use? how do i create a room in IRC? anyone know where i can get info on this? i know this is kinda off topic but i don't know of a place with more webmasters :) thanks
