Planetside - Sony's MMO First Person Shooter
http://planetside.station.sony.com/
Anyone tried this yet? I was never into Everquest but Id like to know what a huge FPS like this feels like with lots of players. Be neat to have 20 or thirty people from GFY shooting eachother. If anyone else has this lets try meeting up and fragging the shit out of eachother when I finish the install. Nows your chance to blast FillmoreSlim with a laser guided shotgun! Thanks to YOU KNOW WHO for the permanent subscription key. |
Looks like fun to me

Xbox had the right idea by bundling a crapass piece of hardware (headset) and giving you the illusion you were getting much more for your yearly subscription fee. Sims Online tanked because of those stupid fucking cards that sat next to it at the stores. |
is it really worth trying?
|
ill know this afternoon when i have time to play the fucker.
Game Specific Features: Massively multiplayer first person action game Wage war with thousands in a persistent global conflict of unprecedented scale Player roles to fit the situation: join a team to conquer territory, fortify a base against attack, or support any offensive or defensive maneuver Character development and advancement through ranks Team tactical combat for control of planetary regions, with real-time territory control updates Seamless worlds on a massive scale with large indoor environments The ten continents of Auraxis? are hostile and active Real-time weather and environmental factors Full team support Vehicle physics and flight model "Instant Action" mode--a quick and easy way to get into the thick of battle |
"Full team support"
This is what makes me gung ho about online gaming and the future of video games. Be neat to have a GFY team out blasting up all the other board teams. :winkwink: "You'll be able to visit the Louvre on one channel, and watch female mud wrestling on another. You can do your shopping at home, or play Mortal Kombat with a friend in Vietnam. There's no end to the possibilities." |
How's the game Filmore?

fed ex came with a distracting xbox title...brute force.....no opinion yet. i need to get my gaming priorities straight. gonna try it now. plus between being a wastoid on GFY and XML bughunting I am burnt out. |
I played the beta Version and was still testing up to the release of the game. At that point online play was still buggy and quite laggy. Only 2 weeks before had they squashed bugs that would knock you offline every 10 mins. The game is going to be constantly changing...so that's cool.
The battles are great. The weapons rock. It's one hell of a good time. They didn't do anything for the beta testers, no free month, no free software (though we already had it)...so I haven't gotten around to picking it up yet. I probably will though, it's worth it. |
okay im trying to learn this game the complete way. 90 minutes into training.
|
okay NOW it is awesome in here....
even though i cant figure out where to go (the world is huge)...i can see hundreds of other people all running around. only they are at different levels in the game...some are getting into huge ships and flying away. ive got to get my mic working...... |
so you have these massive maps. continent size maps that are hosted somewhere else i guess...
there are hundreds of vehicles and airships and people on foot everywhere. you have to go to various area of the continent to support your fellow troops (teams of thousands) |
will my amd 1700+ .. geforce II pro 64mb be able to run that shit?
|
|
A friend of mine played it and said it sucked ass. And he's a big fan of both shooters and massive multiplayer games.
|
A buddy of mine just got the game. It came with a 7 day free trial for a friend (me).
We've been playing it, but I've gotta say battlefield 1942 and counterstrike are both much better and more realistic if it's fighting you're after. If you're into role playing, you might enjoy planetside. It's very addictive. I find myself playing it for hours, but not really having that much fun. I won't be buying a copy, I'm going back to desert-combat. |
I beta tested the game for almost 2 months. As long as they actually keep the servers up for more than a few hours, its a pretty cool game.
I don't really plan on buying it because I got too much work to do now. But I would defiantly pay for it if I had time to play it. |
That's a sweet sig you have there. Steve "Flyboy" from Dawn of the Dead I think. One of my all time favourite movies!
Romero supposedly now doing a 4th dead movie... Quote:
