hey m0rph3us... yes, i worked w/ a company who was a large VAR for canopus for quite a while, the DV-Storm product has actually already been EOL'd (end-of-life) and replaced w/ the newer DV-Storm2, a superior product in near every aspect. when the older Storm board was introduced, it was a stopgap measure to enter the low-end consumer level of the market after the introduction of their high-end offering, the DV-Rex M1/RT boardsets... while the Rex M1/RT combos were always very good performers, the DV-Storm was very often problematic for both end-users and integrators; it was plagued w/ compatibility problems from the beginning, *especially* on any VIA, nForce or Serverworks chipsets, and would often force machines to reboot unexpectedly, or drop the VGA overlay altogether, also forcing you to reboot.
so, in answer to your question, the DV-Storm is, IMO, utter garbage, and i wouldn't recommend anyone pick one up, no matter how cheap it is unless you are a masochist... pick up either the newer DV-Storm2 for a bit more cash and edit w/out headaches, or even one of the older DV-Rex M1/RT combos, they are still a stable and viable editing platofrm as well. the bundled 'RexEdit' software is really nice and fast, and is very comfortable for performing traditional A/B cut-editing or modern non-linear editing tasks (if you need more than 3 simultaneous streams or HD capability you will need the RT package). let me know if you need any other info about canopus products friend..
