Somebody define this for me...... I know what i feel it means but reading around it seems some providers think differently

well , me too , i have a doubt but :

something that only YOU can use , something Can be displayed only on YOUR domain ..Unique Thing .. ?

Some providers sell their 'exclusive' content 2-3 times :)

There is no single explanation that can be made for exclusive content. Some providers sell it to you 100% and you can resell it, publish it online or in magazines. Other exclusive licenses allow olny for Internet publication and you may or may not be able to resell.

Always check with your content provider BEFORE you make the purchase.

There are more theiving webmasters than there are content providers who will pull that shit. If I find somebody who has stolen my content then I go after them...If a provider sells an exclusive shoot to more than one client then I suggest the clients expose him and sue the mother fucker.

We've done "exclusive" for over 120 reality series episodes for various companies...Our agreement is as follows:

Company will own full rights for internet use, promotional/advertising use, and DVD sales. Company will receive dvd?s of all content produced.

Exlusive = Shot by our production team for use *only* on our own sites. :2 cents:

Exclusive should mean a 1:1 relationship but our industry takes content with limited licensing and call that exclusive since its not mass marketed....

When shopping exclusive, just ask if your the only ones with this content", they may shoot the model again in different wardrobe, and thats fine....

Don't be afraid to ask direct questions.

a) Has this content been sold before or distributed before.
b) How long does my exclusivity last.

Some sell exclusive for set amount of time, and then mass market, so all you did was buy the jump on the content.

When I shoot Exclusive I give the customer the edited clips, the tapes and I delete it off my Hard drive.
I also give them the 2257 and ID and make them the primary producer and I stay as the secondary.

To me, exclusive means exactly what it says on the tin. It means that nobody else will be sold/licensed that content.

Since I license my sets 4 times (max), I call it semi-exclusive. To license it more than once and call it "exclusive" would be a lie.

Some people license the content, and retain copyright and ownership. That can make sense if they are selling exclusive web rights, for instance, but retaining print rights. Think there can't be any different opinions on what "exclusivity" is...
If someone sells content twice then content is not exclusive. That's it.
