Good ideas for Graduation Gifts?
So as many of you know, i'm graduating from college this august - and walking this june. The question is coming up more and more "What do you want for graduation?" .. friends, family, and others around me are all offering to buy me something great, but I have no fucking idea what to ask for!
Can you guys give me a hand here? Can you offer up some advice on cool meaningful shit between the price range of $50 and $500? Much appreciated =) |
First off, congrats on walking to plank, we all know how rough it must have been but its finally over! If you had to take loans to pay for that degree, ask your friends and relatives for cash, the interest rates once you graduate start to pick up. From family, ask for whatever you want, they're gonna spend the extra buck for you so milk them :)

My folks were cool enough to pick up my college bills, so nothing I can ask for there... hmm, I guess I'll keep thinkin about it. the only things I've come up with so far are: - A rabbit wine cork screw (but I've heard these don't work on the new artificial corks - anyone heard the same?) - of course a monte blanc pen I've already got luggage, kitchenware, and a fair amount of neeto things around my place... what else is out there? |
well if your going to college ask for shit like towels, bed spreads, MONEY, you know stuff you take for granted while your at home. I remember my first year of school I asked for money. I wished that I had asked for basic "home" type stuff because when I got to school guess what I had to buy with my grad. money? So start small then go big. Grandparents/parents - Money. Aunts/Uncles - toiletry(spelled right?) type stuff and crap for your dorm room. Also gift cards for like walmart, target, k-mart, etc. Or any type of gift cards from grocery stores.
Congrats by the way. :thumbsup |

One thing I always give the grads in my life is a silver or gold bar (usually either 1 or 2 oz. depending on the availability and metal type depends on how close I am to them) It's engraved with a graduation scene and on the reverse side with their names, school name and graduation date. I started giving these 15 years ago when I graduated from high school and received one. It's the only gift I received that I still have and that has the potential to increase in value. Something like on this page but I order mine handcrafted from a local jeweler. Prices usually range from 25 to 250 once again depending on weight and metal.

take a vaca and relax...you earned it! have someone pay for the ticket, another the hotel, and get spending money from another. |
A grown man needs an expensive watch. Otherwise, no one will take you seriously. Trust me on this one.
|
he took care of the watch himself.but you can always have a few
the pen will be taken care of ;) one thing - i still haven't picked up - but keep meaning to - is a nice frame for my diploma. I like the idea of the gold coin/bar - engraved with the school - that's pretty slick. I know you like wine - maybe somebody - would want to buy you a wine club membership - get a wine a month - the sentiment would last all year - or you could even stash a bottle or two away for a while. They always include at least a couple celebrated wines - |

I agree with you here ... only problem is that I've already spent as much as I'm willing to on a watch - if they dont' take me seriously at this point, they can feel my toe in their rectum :Graucho |
A car or a piad student loan :winkwink:
|
most likely you should ask for a
SWIFT KICK IN THE ASS AND A SLAP ACROSS THE FACE! hAARRRRRRRRRRR! |
let them give you money so you can buy a nice jewel and have your graduation date in it, so you'll always be reminded of that great achievement. :2 cents:
