Sponsors - READ THIS:::

What the fuck is this about.......?

I just wrote to a sponsor demanding the affiliates email address who has been spamming me with their products. I was told..."ummmm sir, we'll look into it" and "sir, we can't release that information". What the fuck is going on here. Either you guys are against spam or your for it - what is it?

If you had any fucking balls, you would provide me with your affiliates email so that I can take steps to get my email address removed from his list. You should also shut down his fucking account (instead of saying you will and never do). Yea, you are some of the same fuckers who are actually in a place to help control the spam and instead of doing anything about it - you fucking run like pussies to see how much money your spamming affiliates have made for you today.

FUCK YOU!

Can I have your clients emails? I want to make sure they aren't using any of my pics or designs.

Spam isn't illegal. Sponsors are going to make cash from spammers as long as they can. Get over it. I wouldn't give out an email to anyone for any reason without a court order.

Perhaps this was the wrong place to post this. So many people here make their living by spamming others - jeeeeez, what was I thinking.

Oh well, spammers still suck - and if your a spammer - well, you get the picture right? :1orglaugh

I'm sure your right. I guess expecting sponsors to follow their own rules of deleting an affiliates account for spamming is asking a little too much of them huh? How come we don't see sponsor programs with rules that say to their affiliates... "We would love for you to spam people about our program. We love working and sleeping with spammers and we would never delete your account for spamming - even if someone complained. Your safe with us!"

The word integrity comes to my mind. Either you have it or you don't. Either you stand behind your word or you don't. Either you are against spam or your not. It seems pretty clear cut to me???

they can be sued for it

basschick 06-01-2003 05:30 PM

first off, they only have your word that their affiliate is spamming you. you could be a psycho stalker. several programs have cancelled affiliates that i reported for aggressive spam or for copyright violation, but i sure wouldn't use an affiliate program who would give out my email address just 'cause someone asked!

El Mega 06-01-2003 05:30 PM

So who's the sponsor??
I'd like to give them some of my business!
I'm no spmammer, but I do mail.
And fuckyou for hating on one of the most lucrative forms of marketting ever!

Sponsors HAVE to say they don't accept spam. Otherwise hosting companies wouldn't touch them. :1orglaugh

Wrong - when I forward a copy of the affiliates spam to the sponsor - I think there is just cause for action.

..."but i sure wouldn't use an affiliate program who would give out my email address just 'cause someone asked!"

That's funny. You dont' mind spamming people with shit that they have no use for so you hide behind a sponsor who won't give out your email address. Your no better than these sponsors who protect you.

DeanCapture, it's obvious you don't know me. i have never - as in not once since i hit the web in '96 - have i ever spammed. not by email, not a newsgroup, not at all.

lots of sponsors cancel spammers accounts - they just won't give YOU the spammers' emails. ars, topbucks, dollarmachine have warned and cancelled people who are reported to them, to name the first few that come to mind. so do most programs that i have worked with.

go fuck yourself, and i really mean it! :321GFY

DeanCapture, are you an employee or partner of Oliver?

Oliver two years ago emailed all the top sites he found at sextracker (and problably from other counters) telling them about his new sponsor program and that he has some movies they can use. What you call spam is how he got his first affiliates (including me) and how I first talked to him over icq. Although I keep email archive, I think that one was on a hotmail account. I'm sure he can confirm my words :-) Same story with nastydollars.

you really are an idiot. any sponsor that will give ANY of my info to ANYONE without a court order is one that i will refuse to use. its called having a reasonable expectation of privacy. when i give someone information to be used for writing me checks, thats all it should be used for.

Dude, if I had a client and you showed me proof that they were abusing your pics or designs and you wanted to contact them regarding that - of course I would give you their email address. Why the fuck wouldn't I? I'm not a chicken-shit like most of the sponsors out there who wouldn't not give you that information.

It has nothing to do with being a chicken shit. It's called good business practice. No private information about anyone should be given unless there's a court order.

You bitch and bitch about email spam, yet think it's so cute to message board spam. Try to be consistent...

I just see things differently. I guess it's too much for me to have a "reasonable expectation of privacy." Spammers invade my privacy each and every day pushing their bullshit programs that I have no use for. I don't mind hitting the delete button, but when that shit happens day after day after day from the same asshole, I think something should be done about it. Obviously, you spam lovers don't feel that way -

carry on...

I am consitant bitch - there's a big differnce in posting a pic here for everyone to enjoy and comment about - and sending you a truck load of fucking spam to your mailbox. You don't have to click my posts here if you don't like the pics, but I have no fucking choice when someone invades my privacy with their fucking spam. If you don't know the fucking difference - GO FUCK YOURSELF - and I mean that in the nicest way of course........

Blah blah blah blah blah.

Spam is spam.

How is spam invading your privacy? You expect a sponsor to simply hand over an email address, yet you're bitching about your privacy?

How would the sponsor know whether or not you're telling the truth? You could very well be some disgruntled ex-business associate seeking vengeance. It happens.

Yes, I do work for Oliver (not partner). I have absolutely no control over how he markets his websites - all I do is photography. What does that have to do with shit?

I would probably starve to death if I ran a sponsor program because I would have integrity. I would make it clear up front that if anyone got caught sending unsolicited spam, not only would their account be shut down, but I would send all of their money and their email address to the people who turned them in. I'm sure that's funny to you folks but that's because you have no integrity....and that way of thinking is why the spam problem is out of control in the first place. You say one thing - and you do something else.

This is my last post on this thread in regards to spam. I can see I am fighting a losing battle with you guys (and gals). I agree to disagree with you and will be happy to buy you a beer when I meet you.

So all you guys who wanna have your way with me here in this thread knowing that I won't post a reply - go ahead :)

Theo 06-01-2003 06:12 PM

thanks, well we can't always agree in this board :-) Just to note I don't think it has to do with integrity to send some emails or not. There are more things involved than this.

wildporno 06-01-2003 06:12 PM

True, but then it comes down to what is and isn't spam. Most anti-spam laws don't outlaw unsolicited bulk commercial email per se, they just outlaw the forging of headers and a few other inconsequential things.

I don't what the anti-spam policy of the sponsor in question is, but in my opinion one complaint does not make it spam. Nor does multiple complaints from one person. It takes complaints from multiple people.
