ffmpeg is an amazing project, and lex fridman mentions it often during interviews so the fact that he finally got people from ffmpeg (and vlc) for an interview is very exciting. ffmpeg also runs one of the best x.com accounts ever. this thread has no other motive than to share excitement. i do not need clients, i have clients.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Farang's posts. It has always been pretty obvious that he is a techie. He get's off on all the tech, nothing wrong with that.

And since when is it improper to offer your business services? Why shouldn't he list out the skills he can offer. That's kind of what GFY has been about since the beginning.

I think he’s got a point there, kid. Most of us professionals have used the tool for years. I can write a script that would ‘cut the watermark, re-encode the video, tilt it 9 degrees south, delay the audio by 1%, and layer another watermark’ .. and yes, it would pass any validation. I can kick it off with a " python3 do_shit.py" command and sit back and watch while it makes the money. Listening to you is like listening to a 101-level student lecture the teacher on how to write a ‘Hello world’ script, then add, ‘I can do it better.’ … No hard feelings, but take a fucking chill pill, junior. No, he is not a 'techie'… he is 'discovering' things that he used to do with a Windows but now on the Ubuntu command line. I bet if you asked him how to run a shell script, he'd say, 'How I do dat?' Would he know the difference between how to run a Python script or a .sh ? i bet hee'd say, 'Whaaat?' …

thank you, sarettah. i really don't understand what the negativity is for or what does this have to do with my skillset (which i am happy to discuss if anyone's interested. while my codebases are private, my projects are not exactly a secret - i even built a portfolio and posted it on gfy recently). again, this thread really was about sharing my excitement. i woke up, saw spotify notification of 4 hour long lex fridman ffmpeg episode and i was like hell yeah, and i sent the link to a few people on telegram and posted this thread. i really am that simple.

people coming in saying things like they know how to run a python script and knowing the difference between python and shell scripts... what the fuck is wrong with you?

PS. i may have worded part of the opening post wrongly. i may have assumed that ffmpeg is more mainstream than it actually is. i did not mean to put anyone down or brag... and brag about what anyway, me staring at computer screen all day every day?

It was so unnecessarily elitist sounding, that I gave my opinion. I was pretty harsh, and truth be told I did confuse you with Duced. I went back and looked, and I think he's the one I was thinking of.

You are NOT thick. This thingy is for webmasters to hire " geeks" to do "geeky" shit for them. No different than when a doctor makes you piss in the bottle. He does not examine it himself, he sends it to the " geeky" lab techs who do it for him. Ditto here: When you produce content you have an editor to edit it, sound engineer to create the sound track, music composer to compose the music, another " geek" colour corrects it, another to master it..... and then some geek converts the content to all platforms using this "thingy" or dozen of others " thingies".

I think you're confused, the webmaster is the geek. If you're hiring someone to do geeky shit for you, you're hiring a webmaster. You're a business owner I guess (or producer from the sounds of it).
