Accident with a handgun...

...has severely crippled one of my monitors. I need a new one. By some act of God this one still works... well sorta.

Anyway, I am sick of LCDs. I am looking for at least an 18 inch viewable flatscreen with nice defenition and doesn't mind being hooked up with other monitors OR from the digital (or even s-vid) out from my insane VC. Price doesn't really matter, but VALUE does.

Any suggestions?

You can't post the topic "Accident with a handgun... " and not tell us what happened.

twistyneck 05-31-2003 09:10 PM

Yeah, quit playing with guns.

nxventures 05-31-2003 09:15 PM

It really wasn't as cool as it sounds. Just an idiot with a M1911 basically. My Mom's whole side of the family lives on the side of highways in Maine in trailors, had the same family members over for my great grandmother's birthday (second oldest person in Maine.) Anyway, little ADD fucker was bothering me, on my fucking computers all day, (cardinal sin) and then was going through my desk. Fucked around with what he found. So tomorrow, he buys me a monitor.

this is the most disturbing thing i read in days :helpme

nxventures 05-31-2003 09:21 PM

Nobody has any suggestions? I was just looking online, everything looked REALLY cheap, monitors have gone way down in price since I bought these.

Makes me sound fairly irresponsible. The gun isn't just sitting in my desk, it is part of a display, locked, and wasn't loaded. But give a determined 19 year old 2 hours, and it would seem anything is possible. I learned a lesson -- very lucky and relieved that my monitor was the only thing hurt.

Jamdin 05-31-2003 09:27 PM

Guns and computers don't mix...

nxventures 05-31-2003 09:29 PM

Anyway, heres what I am looking at:

ViewSonic P 95f+
Sony StylePro CPD-E440/B
Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB

Any experiences?

Compulsive replier eh, Aaron? :)

Sometimes it seems, conventional safety isn't enough.

EscortBiz 05-31-2003 09:31 PM

get a bullet proof one and throw that gun away

That gun is a collectable. It has never even been fired, let alone really used as a pipe. :)

Seemed like a cool idea though. :thumbsup

See this? Invest in one. Give a 19 year old a crowbar and 2 days and you will STILL have a monitor.

Fucking christ, why can't anybody just give me an opinion on a monitor. This really isn't a big deal, crazier things have happened with these people. I don't care, make something up. I am tired and want to sleep sound, dreaming of my new amazingly clear, sharp, bright, colorful 19" ______________ ______________.

I don't know if you were being serious, but I actually am looking into something like that for the heavier duty items. Got manufacturer/model info on that?

Thanks a ton.

Sure is. I have a room mate (TSB) Who likes to get high and drink what is not his. Kinda makes it hard for him to get to it if it is in the vault.

Custom build by a local vault manufacturer. This is the 2nd one I have had built by this guy. Very happy with both vaults. This one is also fire proofed so I have a place for my 2257 docs.

Does it have backup power? I lose power here when a mosquito farts 100 miles away, need to be able to lock/unlock without current. Generator only powers kitchen and computers. Had a "nice" vault at one time that popped open everytime the power went out.
