What's the next big fun "it" thing?
I was watching some YouTube channel about some news person or celebrity, I forget, who was saying the age of the movie star is over and entertainment is like, everywhere man, not just focused on a few people who do blockbusters anymore.
Facebook's Metaverse seemed to die before it ever even got used by the general public. But certainly, there have to be new things on the horizon that are gaining steam... What's the next big thing? Will affiliates be able to sell robots soon? Porn was so wild and so "new" back in like 2002ish... nobody owned a video camera. Owning a video camera was a big deal! The video camera and the temperature of free speech in society at the time was a golden age for sexual expression, and soooooooooo many of us lived the dream because we made soooooooo much money during this time... Imagine if 100+ companies started chugging out domestic servant robots... maybe we could legitimately bring back affiliates, people who tested and reviewed enough robots to be able to sell them via affiliate links again. Sure, it's foolish to think the affiliate game is ever going to be as fun and as hot as it was, but man... imagine if affiliate marketing was brought back to sell the best domestic robots... we'd be ballin' again, kings! ( and queens! ) https://i.ibb.co/dwBykqf1/nbt.jpg |
What if GFY survives to something crazy like 2030 and we all have basic domestic robots by then and we get them to make videos trash-talking each others' domestic sla... robots!

"Affiliates" are just a traffic channel. People with things to sell have easier, cheaper, and more direct way to market now.
The web is dying and most traffic is consolidated on a handful of apps and social media sites. Not saying it's good, it's just what it is. If you want to be an affiliate, you need to figure out how to get the traffic (either by buying it or working for it). The offers are out there. This year at ASW the biggest booths seemed to be credit/debt/loans, or legal or insurance. |

well maybe not fucked. most people will love to be fed and entertained 24/7. i'd rather fish and raise ducks. the only thing we're missing is solar. panels are about 70% cheaper this year. every tech billionaire agrees this is their vision of the future: :helpme # |
Two years ago, Skate Oddity, a goth roller skating night popped up in Burbank. It was definitely one of those one of a kind things a lot of people want to check out. I started going. Last year, I'd be at the skate park or the rink at least three times a month. Noticing a lot of slackers/Xrs, but a lot of teens to 30somethings are into roller skating as well.
Last week, the local rink had over 400 people show up. I might be off base on roller skating becoming the next big thing, but it's becoming clear that roller skating is growing in Southern California, from Porn Valley down to Orange County. But there might be something else involved. Night clubs are dying out. Mobile device entertainment and interaction is causing fatigue. Roller skating allows for one on one interaction without the pressure to date, it's a fun activity where alcohol and drug consumption isn't compulsive (like a sports bar or a rave), trying it out doesn't require a major investment, and it encourages everyone to be creative (like seriously, I'll see 200 pound hip hop bros move like ballet dancers). So if I had to say what the next big thing is, look for similar factors. Bowling often involves booze, but drinking isn't necessary. Golf can be pricy, but there are public golf parks. Porn Valley now has a combination bicycling AND outdoor roller skating group. There's rock climbing groups, hiking, etc. Anything that involves cheap/free socialization without politics and we can put the cell phone down. If we have a tie with the internet, check trends for activities like this and go with affiliate links for things like sports equipment, Groupon. Maybe build web sites focused on local events like bowling in Kansas, or hiking in Nevada and link that up with Amazon, REI, etc. |
Adding an "Sh" before the letters in title you havin in quotes, has always been and will always be pretty fun for me... :thumbsup

the next "it" thing? Probably people reading Industrial Society and Its Future when the power goes out from AI datacenters.
