Uff, dry fasting is great, but really hard to do. But has really good benefits, if you can do it for 24 hours at least. Hang in there. :thumbsup

hope I'm not thread jacking but since by now Nikki has been able to pour herself a glass of the good stuff (enjoy gyal!), may I ask why not drinking water would be a good thing?

have an unapologetic and intense love affair with water so deep that I wrote a whole damn thread about it, so obviously biased. but it also serves to boost energy/alertness and helps flush bad stuff out of the body through the kidneys. also helps keep the face from looking like a shed snake skin

avoiding water can't be for weight loss...anything lost to dehydration would just be gained back 'pon resuming intake. eating a slice of watermelon with a glass of water is a much better way to control water retention and balance electrolytes. plus organs need water to function at their best, at least as how I understand this stuff which is def not expert-level

I get why Nikki did it, she's a good Jew. unlike others here (ahem Eddy :disgust) :upsidedow

just curious what possible upside there is to avoiding water aside from doing so for a relig reason? genuine question

Jman 10-03-2025 03:53 AM

I jumped in thinking you said Fisting... Oh well, Never Mind ;)

Matyko 10-03-2025 04:05 AM

I am not doing religion-related fasting, but intermittent fasting works for me.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh . . . Yeah, the topic of fasting doesn't seem to belong around here.

Because it speeds up the health effects provided by fasting. With regular water fasting, the body needs 1-2 days to get into the autophagy effect, where it replaces the old and corrupted cells with new cells, so basically the last day is the most benefitial day during a 3 day water fast. BUT if the body has no water, the whole process is sped up a bit...so the body gets into the autophagy phase faster and a 24-36 hour dry fasting might be just as effective as a 3 day water fast. Thats the only reason really...I prefer water fasting as I don't mind doing it for 3 days or a bit beyond even.

I don't do this for weightloss reasons at all...yeah, I can lose some fat since I do my regular workouts even during fasting, but the main goal is just healing the body from within.

thanks for replying, was curious. also learned a new word with 'autophagy'

cannot fathom 24 hours without water, for any reason. so not into ish for health (lighting a cig while typing this), just genuinely find I operate better when I give myself a break from food and guzzle that sweet, sweet H2O. three days with water is an entirely different world than one day without it

a whole day Nikki? you're a REALLY good Jew, especially if your God won't send you to eternal hell for cheating. did not realize Judiasm has a different idea of punishment for the wicked after death. looked that up and discovered another new word in Gehenna, which sounds like the New Jersey of the afterlife

I come to gfy to learn

glad ya made it through :)

Judaism doesn’t have many set rules besides not eating pork and other “stupid” things. It’s rabbinical law, where it all depends on what a rabbi says and “explains.” What he says depends on how “well” one approaches him. If the rabbi likes tranny sex, Nik is safe and going straight to Jewish heaven. If he doesn’t, Nik can bring some donation money or pay for his kids’ education. Either way, it’s a win-win 'go to heaven' situation. Take it from an unqualified Jew with many Jewish relatives.

mechanicvirus 10-03-2025 12:36 PM

Staying hydrated is much more important than a forced fealty to a god.
