Would you take a chance buying this computer for $128?
|
If it seems to be too good...
My system blew up and low on funds. Working from Chromebook. |
Dell refurbished stores have some great deals, you can buy direct for about the same price: https://www.dellrefurbished.com/
(Wait for a promo code to come out for back to school prices) WG |

Sadly I can't just get a basic system so mine has to be built by my IT guy here. In the fall I do plan on getting another computer but this time going to add AI to it so much more needs o be put into it.

These refurbished Dell computers are pretty much OK for basic office work. Coming with Windows license and everything..

Even though it would be on the slow side for Windows 10 and may not even run Windows 11, I would install VWWare on it and then use it to run virutal linux machines. The case is nice and small so it will fit on a shelf in my rack, and the 19" monitor is a steal at that price too. I really wouldn't need the monitor in this scenario, so I would sell it for $50-$75 or so. Or here's another fun use-case for it: Turn it into a Retro gaming machine. This would be similar to Retro Pi, but faster. Set it up, connect it to your TV and and any old game controller you like, and boom! Hundreds of retro games and hours of fun. And again, you could sell the monitor, proably in its original box too, for $75. Sweet deal! |
You would have to pay me to go back to a mechanical boot disk

I like taking old Alienware computers and fixing them up for gaming rigs.
I never thought I would say this but at this point I don't see the point of a PC. Everyone here at the house has a Microsoft Surface Laptop or Surface Pro. Combined with a docking station you can run multiple monitors, etc. I just bought a new Surface Pro and I use it constantly. |
