Refund for 21 months?!?!?

We got a lovely customer service inquiry today. A guy wrote in asking for a refund for 21 months of charges, because "I was just informed by my credit card company that I have been getting charged $49.95 for many months of membership that I never signed up for!"

Interestingly, the ip address the signup came from is allocated to
an organization with his name.

We wrote back to him basically asking how he didn't notice a charge for 21 months and how the signup came from an ip address in his name if he didn't make it.

Joy.

hello CC customer service

i need to do a chargeback

have you asked the merchant for a refund?

Give me his name, and when the gutterboy revolution happens I'll make sure he's first against the wall. Before the christians even.

I'd tell him he can have his refund if he gives back the bandwith he used

That poor bastard made you some good money :1orglaugh

I'd give him a refund, but then charge him a "service fee" for doing it and recoup all the money!

did he access the site at all since his initial trial was over?

SomeCreep 05-30-2003 06:00 PM

Tell him no refunds. Then when he makes a chargeback, his CC should get blacklisted by whatever IPSP you're using. Not much else you can do.

MetaMan 05-30-2003 06:01 PM

why are u running porn sites anyway?
u evil evil man

Great, but the chargheback % in that month will be ... huge and could cause problems... not to say fee.

Negociate ???

Nah fuck calling the cops, that's the pussy way out. Tell him he's got to fight you for it. If he can whip your ass he can have his money.

That's what I was wondering.

Probono 05-30-2003 06:52 PM

It is unlikely the CC company will allow 21 months of chargebacks. I would refund 3 months and tell him that is as far as you can go.

Gator 05-30-2003 09:53 PM

That's fucked.

I had a guy once ask me for refunds because he had a problem that he was addicted to porn and got his family in debt because of it.

PostWhore 05-30-2003 11:53 PM

what a fucking scammer

SleazyDream 05-31-2003 12:01 AM

why am I left feeling that your porn site ISN"T worth $50/month....

gothweb 05-31-2003 12:03 AM

Refinds are meaningless now. The 1% limit on chargebacks imposed by the CC companies includes refunds. Let the fuckers do a chargeback.

freeadultcontent 05-31-2003 12:04 AM

yeah what ian said.
