Dot porn vs sex vs xxx

Hey,

Which of these is more preferable for a highly sought after keyword, like lesbian or milf?

Or are they all equally garbage? :pimp

The Porn Nerd 07-04-2025 10:18 AM

All pretty generic so lots of competition I would say.

TheLegacy 07-04-2025 11:55 AM

For highly sought after keywords like "lesbian" or "milf", here's how the domain extensions compare:

.XXX:
  • Most recognized adult-specific TLD with longer market presence
  • More established reputation in the adult industry
  • Some SEO professionals note it may be easier for ISPs to block
  • Has more brand recognition with users

.PORN:
  • Clearly identifies content type
  • Less established than .XXX but very direct
  • More recent addition to adult TLDs

.SEX:
  • Broader appeal and less explicit than .PORN
  • May attract different search intent (educational vs. entertainment)
  • Potentially less likely to be automatically filtered

For high-value keywords, .XXX appears to have the edge in terms of industry recognition and established presence, though each has pros and cons. Many adult site operators actually maintain multiple domain extensions (particularly keeping a .COM alongside specialized extensions) to maximize visibility and avoid potential filtering issues.

The effectiveness ultimately depends on your specific SEO strategy, target audience, and whether you're more concerned about direct navigation or search engine visibility

Is your question for ranking or branding purposes?

I see there were a few other posts while writing this, so in addition to what was said....

I think no matter how many extensions come out, .com will always hold the most value, in terms of trust, rankings, and what people will remember. You can rank any extension in the top results, but with so many other factors, at the end of the day, I personally would go with a .com, like milfkeyword or keywordmilf for your main site.

Thelegacy provided a good comparison on the domain extensions you were asking about.

So, if you have the funds and time for it, grab the other extensions mentioned, build landing pages and use those to promote your .com

But really, how important are names? Look at reddit, what does it even mean? Clearly, that's not how you spell "read" or even if you say "red", what's the extra d? And yet they rank well with a misspelled, sort of made up name. It's definitely not a keyword name. So, was it good branding, luck, combination, or other factors? Many other similar examples, so who knows.

I do know that personally, I would go with a .com

Alex21 07-07-2025 02:45 AM

Thanks guys :thumbsup:2 cents:

Really appreciate the input! Picked up some one word high traffic categories in .porn and .sex mainly at a discount last year and they are up for renewal. It's for future branding potential, yes

These are broad keywords so no TM issues hopefully.

Cheers :pimp

.com is more trustworthy to paying users, .xxx has a more shady image

.xxx is no way shady, an obvious adult or pornography site...

.com is not in the question, so why bring this into the thread?

.xxx is shady, but same goes for .porn and .sex, they convert worse than .com and that's why no big brand uses them grandma

Perhaps because the OP asked this:

This. I vaguely remember that fakehub dude who told us to give all our full content to the tubes to create traffic streams (lol) also shilled for .xxx

When I now check all fakehub sites are .com

CaptainHowdy 07-10-2025 03:41 PM

.com is still king . . .

Thanks guys,

Just trying to work out which if any domains with porn extensions are worth renewing. Got them cheap last year and ofcourse these aren't cheap to keep.

They are either one word and/or top searched porn terms :helpme:pimp

INever 07-21-2025 01:01 AM

Maybe info is out there about which TLDs after com are trusted best.

Those TLDs you mention make it easier to ban and block.

.xxx is not shady, shady is dodgy and there´s plenty of quality websites out there with .xxx

and if we, adults with websites, had all gone .xxx, maybe this could have been an easy way for parents to place parental control on their children phones & not have all this AVS problems that have now risen...

besides, if you´re getting personal calling me grandma, at 45, then you´d better put a parental control on your wifi & stop logging into adult sites junior :thumbsup

Almost no one went .xxx simply because .xxx is shady and you still haven't got the point of AV, grandma.

do I think .xxx was/is a racket? yeah

Nat, that's your choice and you do you

.xxx being bullshit and you being hot are not two mutually exclusive things. for a 'gramma' at 45 you're pretty damn fine :)

but yeah, re thread topic; .com

the .xxx sounds more professional & an adult site if you´re wanting a brand personally...

and yes, of course the .com is better, it´s better than a .es, .co.uk or any other tld, but then if you´re wanting traffic or business in that certain country or environment, then the others are perfect too :thumbsup

although, the topic was .porn .sex or .xxx

so i still continue to say, if out of the 3, the guy should maybe keep them if can afford them or go for the .xxx in my preference from the other 2...

I do don´t I...

I give a good time to anyone above legal age, 18 to 100...

this guy´s name is Steve & he´s a swinger. A great guy & yes, a grandpa, he´s 71. Nothing wrong with that!

Steve´s probably more energy than most 30 yr olds! Goes golfing 3 times a week, playing for the local cricket team & runs a few quiz nights at a few bars on the Costa Blanca.

Not sure where you´re going with your post above, but still, hope you enjoyed the video & thanks :thumbsup

.porn contains the actual keyword, but .xxx is a standard in adult. Either way, avoid all 3 of these. No .com = bad for business
