The death race - good summer vacation idea
I was hanging out with my cousin last night and we talked about what we could do this summer. He mentioned a "Death Race"
Sounds like a kick ass idea! Basically what happens is there are a few teams, each with a set number of members. Each team starts out with $1000. The race starts out in 1 city and ends in another, each team grabs a newspaper and hunts through the classifieds for a vehicle (under 1000) Once you have your vehicle, you hit the road which is already mapped out. Along the way there will be checkpoints such as strip clubs, resturaunts, points of interest etc. Each with a certain assignment, ie get a strippers autograph or something. You cannot spend over your limit so eating out of dumpters may be an option. Once all teams reach the finishing point they meet at a hotel or campsite, drink a shitload of alcohol and passout. Each team must leave at the specified time the next day, if you're hungover and cant get up, your loss, better speed. Again the teams go through the checkpoints. The first person to make it back without spending over $1000 wins all the cars and bragging rights. :thumbsup Its like the Gumball rally, but for rednecks! |
sounds a challenge for me.

We used to do something like that when I was a teenager. 3-5 people to a car, 5-15 cars depending who showed up. The day before the race, the the organizer would run all over the state setting up "Clues" at checkpoints. At the starting line you'd be given the first clue, which would lead you to the second clue when you figured it out. Second would lead to the 3rd, and so on.
Had everything from physics problems, to stuff where you had to run through a shopping mall and find signs in stores to put words together to make up the location of the next clue. We got thrown of libraries for rushing in looking for certain books, ticketed by cops for fucking with highway signs and markers. It was a lot of fun. Races lasted anywhere from 4 to 24 hours. The idea that nobody knew where they were going next made it really cool. You'd be sitting somewhere with your team trying to figure something out and see another car blow past, and it would be a mad dash to catch up with them and find the next point before they lost you and improved their lead. |
