My friendship with a local squirrel has reached another level today. Pics and video
Named her Daisy. Been gaining her trust for weeks getting her to eat raw unsalted nuts out of my hand. She loves walnuts and pecans. She has no use for seeds apparently. When I freed her Brazil nuts she eats a little then digs a hole near her tree to save them for later.
Today another squirrel I have been feeding let me feed it by hand. Daisy got jealous and starting getting upset making her warning sound then chasing the other squirrel away. Right after that she let me pet her for the first time. Typical female! She has a has a very distinctive ear with a split in it. It takes 5 to 10 minutes each day for her to come to me when I start calling. Sometimes she is a ways away I guess looking for food. Not sure if she has babies but one thing I know is she is looking healthier than she was when I first started feeding her. https://flic.kr/p/2r2Xf4S |

Wholesome!
I started feeding the wood pidgeons in our back garden about 9 months ago, they are also looking healthier than they did when I started. One in particular (there are 5 in total) will sit on the fence waiting for me in the mornings around 10am ish when I get my lazy ass out of bed to throw scraps of bread and whatever grains we had left over from the night before. The rest just fly away as soon as the door opens, this one actually jumps off the fence and will walk towards me, cock its head and make sure im tossing food out lol Waiting for it to get close enough so I can pet it, then hopefully, gain its trust enough that it begins brining me random sticks, rocks, gold bullion bars, etc... I'll be like that chick from Home Alone with all the pidgeons in Central Park eventually :1orglaugh If that plan doesn't work out, then I have my eye on a set of crows (or maybe rooks, cant really tell the diff TBH) to train up :thumbsup |

That's awesome. It reminds me of my friend Jim. He has an entire family he's feeding in his backyard.
But this one really trusts you! |

Good morning/afternoon from Daisy!
I scratched her back today for about 60 seconds. Yesterday she climbed on my back. Little stinker.. https://flic.kr/p/2r3pS4h |

She cruised up a tree today. I looked up and saw her grooming one of her babies. They are pretty big. I saw two of them. Here is a zoomed in shot they are in the left lower area and you can see the big nest on the right

Be careful if he becomes too friendly with humans, it could bring him some troubles. |
