GFY has been there through thick and thin, mania and depression, rock hard and noodle limp.

Seems like just yesterday I was fucked over and had no food and I went to sell Dugmor! my 8888th post with a crazy video compilation of some sort, then my video card died, shit went south and I never paid him back that $88.88 and now I'm over 10k posts in the blink of an eye.

I feel like I'm on the cusp of doing something so exteme... going and buying like 2 redbulls and 2 cookies, a coffee, a vodka, some chips, and then just crank music and code my app until I either have a basic 100% working product by like 5 AM tonight, or I end up lying in my own filth under my desk after hitting the limit of $50 tonight and being codeverdosed and shitfaced wasted after only accomplishing a buggy, useless mess in an alcohol-fueled python binge.

Once you get using the MAX version and the power of the MAX tools, things become really interesting. You'll never want to go back to the less powerful tools that end up holding their dicks confused. One tip I'd give is to remind the app not to use too many tool calls in MAX mode, and to keep that in mind when they're working to make heavier decisions when they use tool calls to prevent needing like 5 tool calls for something they could have done in one if they were reminded to be "efficient" with their fucking calls at .05 a pop!

Are you trying to create your own tube upload script?

Much, much more than that, but that's included. Was it you who told me to write my own script for tube uploads? The last 2-3 days I made huge progress and my app does a ton of cool things that save massive time. The only issue I'm facing now is upgrading from the CSV-based system to a database with an API to handle all of the calls, updates, requests, file moves, etc etc etc... and what I'm facing is that one of my modules hit over 4000 lines of code, which starts to break the editor tools. Then in python you get all these fucking linter errors when the file gets so huge and you're making changes and tweaks all the time.

So, on my journey of learning, I am at that place where I'm figuring out how the software can fit together more efficiently while learning the current limitations of the AI. I'm a bit choked that I can't just roll out and use my CSV-based software, because it works, albeit like a Rube Goldberg machine. So I have to slog through getting my app converted over, and there is one stubborn module giving me a major headache... probably because it is so complex and worked great with a CSV, but switching it to API calls has introduced a new wave of shitty linter errors!

Need to go walk and see if my car is still on the side of the highway, hope I don't have a ticket or a note demanding I have to move the car already. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

If you're making a python app and have a single module with over 4000 lines of code, then you're probably over-complicating things.

Python isn't very verbose so you can probably simplify things A LOT.

On another note, you may also be falling into a very common pitfall: over-engineering your project. Tube uploads is a very simple business model and there are already MANY tools that you can use that would probably replace lots of parts in your project, do it better, and be cheaper in the long-run to use.

Tube Site Submitter is one of them. The time you're wasting building your own solution is probably going to cost you more than the money you'd already be making if you used pre-made solutions.

Anyways, good luck. Just remember: Keep it simple. Tech debt is a very real thing.

I spent today re-writing my entire code step by step by step with the AI for like 12 hours now, close to being done, phew... what a slog! Learned a lot though. I have been always asking the AI to remind me of better programming practices in case I instruct it some amateur style shit to do. It is good at telling me and making suggestions that an amateur vibe coder wouldn't have a clue about.

This time, my entire code has been re-written on a much more solid foundation with an API and proper database instead of a lame ass CSV file for my modules to communicate through. Much more robust!

Using SQLite and ran into an issue where worker modules can't do DB work because SQLite runs in a single thread or some shit, have a work around though. It's a somewhat complex app to basically mimic... me.(except it doesn't drink or post on GFY... yet.)
