here's something you don't see everyday...
 

a fucking AWACS just flew over my house! it wasn't in a typical flight pattern either, especially for the usual training flights and stuff. normally around here all you see is smaller aircraft and some lear jets.

we've got a small AFB here, they moved out all the F4s years ago and now it's all tanker planes, an air force one and occasionally (but not too often) a STARS.... but never once have i seen an AWACS here.

oh, nevermind. i forgot, i think there's an airshow coming up, that must be their reasoning. but still, an AWACS at an airshow? odd. but i was out at the airport the other day, and i didn't get to go up to it, but i was about 30 feet from a real flying b17. that was pretty sweet, she was in pristsine condition.
