Sony shows off Playstation 2 set top box

SONY, CONFIRMING earlier stories, have exhibited the Playstation 2 set top box, which will include a proper DVD recorder and a TV tuner.
The unit will start selling in Japan later this year and Sony is also expected to introduce a model for the European and US markets early in the new year.

That's likely to prompt Microsoft into action and bring something better on its Xbox platform sooner than expected.

What's a TV Tuner and DVD Recorder do?

Records DVD's and tunes the TV.

i see it as another worthless device, not to mention i can do all the above with one of my pc's.

but when it comes out ill get one for bragging rights and sell it on ebay a month later when im tired of it

they are making it pretty easy for the warez community. hard drive, tivo and a dvdr all in one?

so many possibilities with todays technology, they're even too late to build these kinda things
