can you say ELEANOR!!

i love the fact that they are making this model look like the 60's model. i can only image how fast they will sell and how quickly they will be stolen.

october 2005 is when the first models will be out. it will be nice to see something different on the road and i am saving up now :winkwink:

justsexxx 05-28-2003 10:47 AM

Looks like the prototype of the new subaru coupe

im telling you! if those who think they know better ARE indeed so much better, then what they hell are they doing in this line of work.

it's like those who critique musicians/actors/etc.. saying they suck, blah blah blah. if those who critique are so much better, then why arent they SIGNED to anything!?!?

They are going retro to the Boss era.. but Eleanor was not a Boss, she was a '67 Mustang Shelby GT500. I have heard that Carroll Shelby is buying, restoring and revamping some old 60s stangs as GT500E (for Eleanor)..

Now this is something to drool over..
$80K for the base model.. $150K for the Super Snake (750HP)..only 475 total to be built.

That is incorrect, Eleanor was a yellow '73 Mach 1. Remakes shouldn't count.

The point is no, they haven't been designing cars like this, the last thirty years of Mustangs are ugly ass pieces of shit.

So yeah what do they know? They know how to design ugly ass cars.

I thought I'd gone crazy for a moment. You're talking about the first Gone in 60 Seconds. I never saw that one. I was talking about Nicholas Cage's Eleanor.

regardless of what you think of the way they have looked in the past, do you realize that mustangs at an auction (salvage auctions...you know cars that have been in an accident) still go for more money then any other car! no i am not talking high end cars (bmw, mercedes), i am talking comparable sports cars.

take a galves book to an auction and try to get a mustang for more then 3k under dealers value and it cant be done (not for newer models 97-98 on up). so that goes to show you that a mustang, that has been in an accident and probably has a salvage title, is STILL worth more then most equal sports cars (with the solid exception of the vette).

Mr. Jim 05-28-2003 11:16 AM

While traveling down Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles on Friday I happend to come across a car masked with the pleather bra like material

(if you have ever seen a spy photo in Motor Trend You know exactly what i mean)

and it was obvious with the scooped out doors and the hooded headlights that it was the new Mustang.

It was very VERY throaty. With the death of ther camaro and firebird

(for now...expect a full reserection in the next four years and i have read that Bob Lutz likes the idea of a retro inspired variant)

The Ford team recognizes that the original demographics for the pony car no longer apply. That demo shift is now the Focus SVT.

The new Mustang is suppose to go head to head with the M3. I am sure it will give tire smoking appeal and the handling will be far superior to any past generation GT...but I think the M3 is the hottest coupe in the game right now.

Also look at the Chevrolet ss this concept is seriously being considered to be green lit by GM....For those who dig the Caddy name plate here is one for you.....The Cadillac CTS is going to have a version that will be powered by the same power plant in the corvette Z06. This is a calculated and deliberate attempt to get M5 performance at 330i pricing.

C-Bass 05-28-2003 11:30 AM

That is a Chevy SSR.. retro pickup. My son wanted one in the worst way until mom found out the price tag. Now it looks like he wants a 70 Chevy C-10 Cheyenne Stepside instead. Always knew he was gonna be a pickup kinda guy.

i can appreciate someone who takes an older car and restores it. a friend restored a chevy ss about 8 years ago and this car came out mint! the paint job alone took four days and was three shades of red so that in some lighting it looked black, other lighting it look candy apple red and yet in other lighting it looked cherry red. he restored the entire car from the interior roof to the chrome bumpers and then i think he got into an accident and eventually sold it.

I am looking for a 1970 mint condition Blazer to keep at the river for a boat to get hauled in and out. I think a clean blazer with a balanced and blue printed small block 400 sitting on 34's with a bikini top would be the shit

We went to peek at a 72 Chevy Chevelle SS but they had this 70 truck there too. He'd been talking about putting a body kit on about a 6 or 7 year old Ford Ranger.. but I really like the flareside/stepside pickups. This C-10 has a built 350. Nothing like the sound of a nice throaty V-8. He laughs at all these kids running around with their hondas and such with the mufflers and exhaust systems on them to make them sound like there's something under the engine.

Cassie 05-28-2003 11:46 AM

i get a good laugh out of hearing a rice burner race along. it's like listening to a washing machine with its belt broken :1orglaugh

Actually some of us do tell them. We take their designs and change them to look how we want them too.
Doesnt make us right or wrong, but it does show that we have some definite ideas when it comes to how certain cars should look.
I just returned from the West Coast Kustoms hot rod show in Paso Robles and it was totally inspiring. One of the world most respected Hot Rod builders ( Rick Dore (sp?)) just did a 72 Toronado, and it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

This is my own idea of what a 51 Buick should look like-

Nope.
I've seen them walking around at the car shows, and I saw their cars at the Peterson Museum, but I've never gotten to meet them in person.
I'd love to hang out with them and see what outrageous cars they are building now but they get so hammered by music fans that I dont want to bother them.

my point was, which was missed, that if you people are so good at design and engineering a car, then what the hell are you doing as an adult webmaster? i mean really, if i were that good at something (take building houses for example) i think i would be working in that field. since i am not, then who am i to tell bob vila that he is doing something wrong.

the bottom line is that the masses speak and if they dont like, they dont buy. the masses will like this car and mark my words, it will be one of the top selling cars or 05-06.
