Metallica's new song

Any Metallica fans? Seems like they tried too hard on this one. Was never really a big fan.

Mr Pheer 05-27-2003 11:14 AM

I'm a huge metallica fan... but this new song sucks... who is that fucker screaming?

I'll wait till more songs are released before I make a decision to buy this album

sickkittens 05-27-2003 11:16 AM

I heard the radio version which is like 5+ minutes? is 1/2 as long as the album version.

machineg 05-27-2003 12:04 PM

metallica hasnt put out a good album since Justice for all .. 1988
thats 15 years ago ..
THEY ARE DEAD , except it and move on and all these new albums won't disappoint you .

I had the black album for a few minutes before I threw it away ..

It's also funny how you say this because if you've been to any of their recent shows, you damn well know that you are in the crowd singing along to each and every one of them along with all of the other "hardcore" fans that pretend not to like their new shit. I may not like it as much as their older stuff, but times change, and so does the music, so deal with it and stop bitching. If you feel so strongly about music 15 years ago, why dont you start wearing clothes and change your lifestyle to it. If everything stayed the same, then how would they be able to pay for their lambos and ferraris???

what I am speaking about isnt the " newer" music , to keep up with the times .. I play guitar and know for a fact that even the thought that has gone into metallicas new music is lame .. a few chords off from nirvana . easy sell out radio friendly crap ..

Dude .. if I dressed myself according to the music I listened to I would look like a quilt .. I am not some loser that hears rap for the first time and rushed out to buy some new baggy pants .
I aint bitching .. its just that year after year I hear old fans disappointed . and I can't figure out where they have been FOR 15 YEARS

SykkBoy 05-27-2003 01:09 PM

I, like a lot of older Metallica fans, have been disappointed with everything after Justice, except a few bright shining moments on the Black album and I had a blast with the second garage days thing...yet, I still pay to see them live every year, because even if their music the last few years hasn't done much for me, their live shows never fail to entertain...and they do try to accomodate the older fans by playing more older stuff and not so much of the newer stuff...I caxn never get tired of hearing songs like "Hit The Lights", "Sanitarium". "Four Horsemen", "Master Of Puppets" and "Battery" over and over again live....

sadly, I've never gotten to see them perform my favorite Metallica song "The Thing That Should Not Be" live....

"...hunter of the shadows is rising..."

Not dead which eternal lie
stranger eons death may die
drain you of your sanity

pure poetry

that's what I miss about the old Metallica, the way James would write his lyrics, sort of "wrapping" them around the music....

dantheman 05-27-2003 01:17 PM

just heard it, SUCKS :(

They played that song live at a small gig in a club in Stockholm a few years ago. 1997 I think... Very good show!

I was a big metallica fan before - hope the rest of the album are better than st. anger - eventhough - nice to see them again.

thats when they started to go to shit. they went mainstream with that album. they might as well start doing abba remixes now.

The Truth Hurts 06-02-2003 01:31 PM

you're all fucking stupid.

st. anger kicks all kinds of ass.

it is 2003 ya know.. not 1980.

if they were still putting out the same stuff they did in the early days, the only ones that'd buy it would be guys still wearing jean jackets and chicks with black t-shirts... both with full scale mullets.

times change... styles change... deal with it...

Metallica sucks :thumbsup

flashfire 06-02-2003 02:15 PM

St. Anger is a good song...not their best by any means but by no means is it radio friendly as some have stated...this is the longest and heaviest song I will ever hear on any station we have here.

Metallica rules...old and new and the new CD is more like old metallica than the last couple discs, wait until you hear "frantic" on St. Anger....kicks ass!

candyflip 06-02-2003 03:00 PM

Time to pass the torch...if only there was someone to pass it to.
