I never heard of Jeff Buckley until I started watching the Dead zOne series last year and one of his songs was the intro song.

rooster 05-27-2003 11:14 AM

steely dan. Half of these rap 'artists' sample their songs

traffictrader 05-27-2003 11:46 AM

jurrasic 5

their beat and lyrics match eminem, but they are under hyped and not "contriversa" so they don't get as much press

stephen lynch

not as much a "band" as a muiscal comedian, but this guy is a fucking riot, I have no idea why he isn't more famous.

Nekromantix, nice one! They are not that under rated really, they are huge within there scene! Great band! Good people!

bignosejimmy 05-27-2003 02:15 PM

Faith No More

Fear Factory

Mortician

Meshuggah

Robbie Williams

Bobby Fissure 05-27-2003 03:37 PM

The Guess Who. Most people only know American Woman and No Sugar Tonight, but there are gems on every album.

Mountain. They had a short career, but man were they good. Leslie West had the biggest guitar sound I've ever heard.

Cream. They were a bit overrated in the late 60's, very much underrated today (compare their airplay on classic rock stations to that of other bands of their era).

The self titled release I think is genius.

i would say Dax Riggs, lead singer/songwriter of acid bath, agents of oblivion, deadboy and the elephantmen. this guy has some amazing vocals and some crazy lyrics, he still plays small clubs in lousiana.

also i would have to add Chris Goss, with his band Masters of Reality since 89, produced the Kyuss and QOTSA albums amoung many others. masters latest studio album 'deep in the hole' was killer.

Dirty F 05-27-2003 04:37 PM

You already said it , Jeff Buckley!

AcidMax 05-27-2003 05:00 PM

A new band a friend of mine is in that we play on my mainstream radio station (www.clanmatch.com -- gaming radio station) but the band is called Eye Color Orange (www.eyecolororange.com) great guys and great music, based out of long island.

AJ

Wendy O. Williams (well known in her genre, but hardly known out of it)
The Unforgiven
The Meatmen
Blue Cheer
The Crumbsuckers
Nitro

Beastiepoo 05-27-2003 05:31 PM

May I spam? Pretty please????

Here goes - My brother's band - Virgil - been around a few years now, play mostly in California. They are underrated and THEY NEED A RECORD CONTRACT! and besides, the music, although fairly mainstream, is pretty good.

Joe Sixpack 05-28-2003 01:08 AM

Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Terribly underrated.

SykkBoy 05-28-2003 01:12 AM

Anyone else who listens to Netscape radio, check out their classic punk channel...not an MTV punk wannabe band in site....my god....Agent Orange, Circle Jerks, Butthole Surfers, The Fall, The Vandals, The Skids....it just gets better and better.....I'm holding out for The Damned before I finally crash for the night..

hermit 05-28-2003 01:22 AM

on a 'this band was inspired by the Pixies' track Placebo are so underrated (more so in the states than in Europe where they have a huge fan base) that is isn't even funny. As a live band they are just spectacular. They have actually taken to ending the show with a Pixie's cover and - wow.

amen brother. my all time favorite.

Herb Kornfield 05-28-2003 08:36 AM

Joe Satriani - Absolutely the most amazing technician of the guitar out there. Remember he is the teacher behind Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet and many others.

If you play guitar I seriously suggest checking him out. It may not be your bag, but, you cant deny his abilites.

He was never underrated though. He could do better, but his choices lead him to where he is. And the death in Acid Bath obviously tore that apart.

Im going to see GOATWHORE on the June 10th here. At least Sammy Duet is still hardcore.

I have seen Acid Bath in the early years, killer shit man.

I miss those old New Orleans shows.

Id kill any one of you to see Exhorder one more time.

:)

OINGO BOINGO is one of the least recognized bands in history in terms of contributions to the music we have today.

Danny Elfman is the Mozart , Bach, whoever of our time.........Unfortunate most people know next to nothing of him. Pure Genius

have you heard anything he has done since acid bath? i think deadboy, while isn't metal, is fucking beautiful music that is on a whole other level. i would of loved to see acid bath back in the day, unfortunatly, i didn't even know of them back then, being in Canada and all. not enough ppl know acid bath, dax or anything hes done. in my opinion hes one of the best vocalists around today.
