Data Transferring
I have two systems, they are not networked, Both have USB ports, anyway I can take about 40 gigs of stuff on the one and put it onto the other? I want to avoid burning it to Cd's just cause it will take forever :( Any help would be appreciated.

Considered a null-modem?

Can't you take HD from the first one and put it to the second one?
|
If your two systems are sharing an internet connection through a router, I'd setup an FTP server on one of them. Have the other system connect to the FTP (using the internal IP address assigned by the router) and voila.

WARNING: DO NOT USE INTEL ANYPOINT IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS XP
If you arent using Windows XP, I used to use Intel Anypoint Wireless Home Network... was great for transferring files between computers and shit.. but if completely fucked up my XP, and now the Program Files directory is completely screwed, can install or uninstall anything to or from it. |

Null-modem is the way to go, I got a cable at a Radio Shack about a year ago for something like $20 and it has paid for itself at least 50 times by now. From laptops with broken CD-ROMs to shit computers without CD-ROMs or Ethernet, null-modem always works. I even transferred data from my old Atari XE and STE computers with it.
It's slow as hell though so be ready to leave shit running overnight or even a couple of days. |
