baume & mercier makes nice watches, too dressy for me though

Ludedude 05-26-2003 10:19 PM

I wear it all the time. Yeah, it's probably too much for a t-shirt and jeans but fuck it. It adds a little character (or so I keep telling myself).

One of my favorite watches is the Breitling Aerospace in titanium. It's on my long list :thumbsup

a store i do business with sells alot of high end watches.. they're a rolex certified dealer.. anyway this past Holiday season they had a sale of a Patek Philippe for like $150,000.00, this watch had it all (lunar timings, all kinds of shit).. one of 3 made if i remember right.. it came with a thick instruction booklet on how to set it up..

anyway the guy that bought it got excited, jumped the gun.. and tried to set it up without reading the booklet, he fucks the thing up completely.. he brings back the watch to the dealer 2 weeks after the sale, and the dealer nearly shits a brick thinking the guy wants a refund, lol.. luckily the guy still wanted the watch and sent it back to the company to be reset.. no local watchmaker would touch it :1orglaugh

These "post your (house, car, rims, watch etc) threads" make me laugh.

It's fun trying to guess which try-hard is the most shallow.

almost bought a rolex last year in cozemul - they were just too damn big though. i like the way the movados are thin and don't look too HUGE.

hmmm.. I've had mine since summer of 99. When it's not on my wrist it's on a watch winder.

I'm waiting for the new Celini's to get here local. They look nice.

did you mean "Cozumel" in Mexico?

aflex 05-26-2003 11:08 PM

pk: the rolex and other fine watches have automatic movements.. the oil dries up in them sometimes when not cared for (ive seen horror's).. '99 you'll be fine for a few more years, but its worth it to keep it serviced because the watch holds its value for the most part on a secondary market. oh yeah, only go to a rolex certified watchmaker / jeweler to do the servicing.. some wannabe watchmakers can destroy your watch. its kind of like owning a mercedes benz and going to a gas station to do the service / repairs.. anyway good stuff :thumbsup

Last time I owned an expensive watch I was going into a local 7/11 store and the fuckin door smashed into my arm blowing the watch to peices.......Ever since then I only buy the $9 fake rolex's from those booths. I can throw it in a lake and would'nt give a fuck.
