Gartner Report: organic search traffic will decrease by 50% or more as consumers embrace AI chat

As more and more consumers get used to the idea that they should EXPECT only ONE SEARCH RESULT when searching for info from the Web (thanks to chat AI like Bard / Claude / ChatGPT), this might lead to 50% less organic search traffic!

I'm not sure how adult will be impacted by this forecasted trend since searchers, BY DEFINITION, are looking for VARIETY.

Maybe for adult stories/lit erotica, this might be the case.

But for graphics?

Similarly, I'm not sure if CASINO/ONLINE GAMBLING will be affected much by this

Still, how would YOU prepare for a change in CONSUMER SEARCH METHODS?

Where on the linked page does it say people will expect or receive only one search result?

It's implied by the prediction that by 2028, Search results will decline by 50%

I have already started going to chatgpt for answers to my questions instead of using Google to find those answers

Is this why Google is giving crap results lately? Probably. It's a conspiracy!

"A Gartner survey of 263 consumers between July and August of 2023 found 53% of consumers believe the current state of social media has decayed compared to either the prior year or to five years ago."

It's a very small sample size and we don't know anything about the background of the participants.

"A perceived decay in the quality of social media platforms will drive 50% of consumers to abandon or significantly limit their interactions with social media by 2025"

I don't see this happening. Social media still seems pretty popular to me, it's just that a particular service may experience shifting popularity.

Google going to be including their advertisers in your AI results soon.

It's bad enough they tell you how to run your business already. Well, not me... but most webmasters.
