never read any Asher but have heard of him. cannot recall where. is Dark Intelligence good?
I would rank him as very good, not great. This is the 6th book I have read.
I will be honest, I like him cause he is a crazy, old conservative, which is rare in the modern sci-fi world.
He wrote 3 episodes of "Love, Death, and Robots". = "Bad Traveling", "Snow in the Desert", and "Mason's Rats".
I read that a long time ago. Really good. I just finished "Going Infinite", Good, but Lewis is definitely going easy on SBF. From my understanding, the book started as a puff piece, before the collapse of FTX. The best part is where he talks about the nerds at Jane's Street Capital.

I heard that about the SPF book and am not sure if I'll end up reading it or not. I don't actually care about that story, maybe it's too fresh or too crypto for me.
I only recently discovered that I like reading about old wall street or business scandal, started with John Lefevres book and then the Enron book, and then Billion Dollar Whale about the Malaysian dude who financed Wolf Of Wall Street with the money he stole from the government.

when I saw Lez's trailer that was my first thought-Ewan!!!
developed such a huge crush on him with Trainspotting. my god he looks young in the Rogue movie
I recall Neeson cuz he was involved in the fall of a bank. takes a certain level of chicanery to fuck up that badly
sounds like a fascinating story to read. I'm gonna order one in from the city library to my local one (way cheaper than 150% import fees on Amazon books from abroad)

well if this is you're 6th book by him that you've read he better be at least 'good'
not a hard core sci-fi fan personally but I do like speculative fiction/dystopian future kinda stuff
my favs in that vein are Nalo Hopkinson and Margaret Atwood (Oryx and Crake-you might really enjoy that one). but I love everything they write in any genre so kinda massively biased
gracias for posting the link. will watch it in 20 min bursts so hope it doesn't get deleted
feel awful watching ish for free but I have the full yt Heathers movie bookmarked so I'm evil too
Ewan was a cutie back in the day. not my type at all but damn he had that insouciant Scottish lad thing going on
probs the book will be more factual but I'm all for 'artistic liberties' if I get to see him nekkid. and the book was apparently written by Leeson so no doubt completely unbiased
I write... I haven't read a book since "The Glass Hotel" after Obama recommended it. A total snooze-fest written for women, could not finish it... Modern literature is absolute woke garbage. Nothing but diversity authors getting published because they are a meme. Many book awards given out to people with the right identities. I used to read a TON of books.
My first book in 2013 when I accurately predicted the collapse of dating:
Read the reviews for a good laugh, but I was right about the collapse of dating. Birth rates continue to plummet.
My second book in 2021 where I predict urban centers becoming more and more lawless and corrupt, a week after I released the Amazon ebook version, a man was stabbed to death in Vancouver in broad daylight in a Starbucks in front of his wife and kid:
According to the Vancouver police, crime is down in Vancouver! Anyone who was actually born and raised in Vancouver knows the city is a complete fucking hell hole and nothing like it was only 10+ years ago where shit was not nearly as bad.
Problem with being a writer in Canada is that if you have the incorrect political views, white skin, and you're straight, you are not going to get any attention or be up for any awards. Canada gives out millions of dollars in writing awards to mostly blacks writing about blacks and LGBTQ+BBQ420WTF people.
I still enjoy writing and my 3rd book is coming out soon, it is about AI and medically-assisted death in Canada. (Our 5th leading cause of morality in Canada now, something like 30k+ people per year get the government to end their lives)
Your One Night With You book, the 20 short stories, reminds me of one of the books I have 1/2 finished. I call it:
"Applause: 10 stories of how people got the clap"
I have like half the stories written, loosely based on my life and people I know. One of the times was when I was dating this hot chick with huuuuuuge tits, she was a hairdresser and she sold drugs on the side, kind of a "boss bitch" type of woman. Anyways, I got the clap from her after she went on some Alaskan cruise and got banged by some dude she met on the ship, she came back and hung out at my place and we fucked, and like a week later my dick was burning. I went and got the pills for it and it was all good, but I didn't say shit to her.
I threw a house party like a week later and she showed up and was really affectionate towards me at the start, but my buddy in TV and Film, he was totally into her and kept using these passive aggressive statements about how I had been posting "all these babes" on my Facebook while she was gone, and just dropping all these hints in front of her that I wasn't into her. I mean, I was, but after getting the clap, I was definitely not going to fuck her that night. Then he was dancing with her, twirling her, and he even took a fake flower I had in a flower pot, put it in his mouth, and did a special little dance for her. It was pretty over-the-top that he kept trying to woo her that night.
Knowing she had the clap, I was like, haha, this is a good chance to let him fuck her and get it. So I started mixing drinks for them both and talking up how cool his apartment was. (it wasn't as cool as mine at all.)
Sure enough, he took her home that night and banged her, and then like a couple weeks later, his OTHER girlfriend took to social media and put him on blast for giving HER the clap... I was laughing sooooooo hard! He never knew that I knew...
haHA! I've read a lot of that series, my ex had em all. mindless is a good descriptor but sometimes that kinda thing has a place. I liked them. found them so improbable (homeless giant getting every hot gyal-who were always so slim and beautiful) but I did enjoy them.
never saw the movie but when I read somewhere that slightly shorter than me Tom Cruise was playing Reacher?
have you ever read any of the John Connolly 'Charlie Parker' series? his books can get a lil odd but man he writes stuff that is dark and so funny, and much deeper than the Reacher books. Angel and Louis (love how they play off each other), the Fulci bros and Jackie. brilliant dialogue and character construction
