2001 or 2010?
 

I watched these back to back last night.

A lot of folks like 2001 more..


2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY - Great movie

2010: THE YEAR WE MADE CONTACT - Also great..

This was cool to see that the movie touched on life on Europa decades before we even decide to send a unmanned mission there.

Personally.. I like 2010

2010 is an incredible book.
2067 is the next in the series, and it's really good too.
3001 is the last, but it's not so good.

2010 isn't in the same league as 2001.

Didnt know that there was other books to follow the orginals.

Yep, 4 in all. The whole concept of life on Europa in 2010 is really cool. And the plot of 2067 is fucking crazy.

Arthur C Clarke is my favourite author. You should check out his Rama series as well.

I'm going to have to go with DTK on this one. Not that 2010 is a <I>bad</I> movie, but 2001... I mean, damn.

he wrote all the books in the 2001 series.
he wrote the first Rama book alone and the rest of them with a co-author (Gentry Lee).

The Rama series deals really heavily with the idea that we aren't alone in the universe. It's a really fucking crazy series.

I think the way Dave was brought back as a messenger in 2010 was one of the best parts of the movie.. freaky..


one of my favorite space movies is Event Horizen.. Satanic parallel universe.. i like the concept. :)
