what do you do with gifts you received from your ex gf/ bf

I broke up with my gf last week. I put all those teddy bears, shirts, cards, paintings, pictures and lot of other staff she bought for me to a huge box and went to the trash, throw them in and watched them getting squeezed.

Now, the only thing i have from a 3.5 years of relation is 4 pictures in my computer. My room looks empty. I don't know if i did the right thing, I feel really weird.

So, what do you guys do with the gifts you received from ex gfs/bfs. Keep them or trash them?

Corleone 05-25-2003 08:26 AM

i'm selling them on ebay :Graucho

anybody want some teddys? ;)

AmeliaG 05-25-2003 08:28 AM

trash them and send them pictures of 'em in the compacter?

Nysus 05-25-2003 08:28 AM

I would have kept on to the stuff a bit longer.

I had some roses I was going to give to an ex, though I caught her cheating on me before I gave them to her .. so I decided to give them to myself. I dried them and have had them until recently when I did some cleaning..

I still have a watch she gave me.. It's just been laying around.. thinking of pawning it off... It's not worth too much anyways.

Cheers,
Matt

wow.. do girls actually GIVE stuff?

I must be doing something wrong then..

Jer 05-25-2003 08:30 AM

I would keep all of the gifts. They would be part of my life, ya know. Maybe when you have a new girlfriend put them all in a box and keep it somewhere safe.

Maybe I would reconsider this if I were cheated.

i have an expensive watch from my ex, i dont wanna throw it out, but i dont wanna wear it too!

eBay?

Nysus 05-25-2003 08:31 AM

Also, I suppose it would depend on what kind of break up it is. If you cheated on her then you're a fucker and I won't answer. If she cheated on you then do whatever you feel like doing. If it was just a break up because she/you weren't feeling things anymore then I'd keep things for awhile.

Cheers,
Matt

No cheating is involved. Our relation was really fucked up. She asked to open a new page and start everything over. I told her that i do not want to be her anymore even though I am broke as fuck and would give everything i have just to see her once more right now.

Keep them. In a couple of years, you will be happy you kept them. They are souvenirs, your own life. It might look like garbage now, but they will be treasures later.

I had this poster since first year, Hanging outside my room in residence to this very day.

It sends a message.

Keep the stuff you like -- trash the stuff you don't like... My first GF was a sculptor so I've got a couple of really nice items that I'd never give up...

Actually we are still friends so when I moved away she's got 2 nice sofa's and everything in my wood shop... she's still one of the most reliable people that I know so I'm glad we are still on good terms... actually she busted me out of jail once even after we broke up -- sometimes it comes down to what phone numbers you have memorized!

Yes, they do. I dont know much about ex-girlfriends (because I will marry in the next month the first girl I ever kissed :) ), but I keep lots of stuff from travels, places we went and stuff. And I do take lots of pics of her and we together :)

Pictures rocks

Eva and I had dinner this evening off the plates and with the cutlery I got from my first marraige 28 years ago?

We never think about it.

I always keep gifts, especially from some girl I would pay to go out, feed and help.

Betray 05-25-2003 12:27 PM

long time just to throw all that stuff away.. sorry to hear
