18+ disclaimer/warning on blogs

Hi there!

Usually we see these 18+ disclaimers (enter/leave) on porn tubes, but anyone tried to add it to a blog? How does a blog performs user wise when added? (I guess for google it doesnt matters).

Thanks.

I don't know if it's the same with these disclaimers of legal age, but with the shitty Google Adsense cookie policy that blocks the entire website, more than 60% reject it according to the statistics that appear in the Google Adsense account.

Many users, upon seeing notifications, leave the site or click reject.

A few years ago I had a adult blog and had this disclaimer. Around 99% didn't leave the website cause of that and just hit yes to continue.
But it was traffic that came to see something they wanted to see (so maybe not accurate in your situation).

It's so common like this cookie notification shit. I would use it for your blog, just to be safer.

Does Google punish your site if you don't use one? I heard if you state in the TOS that the user has to be 18+ to use the site then those disclaimers aren't necessary, not sure how true that is though

i usually leave sites if they have anything annoying like that

I'm running a split test on a tube of mine to see if an age confirmation interstitial affects the bounce rate. So far the results indicate that it does by a significant amount but I'll wait until I have a larger sample size before concluding anything.

As far as Google is concerned, they recommend you do not show the age confirmation gate to Googlebot.

I have stupid do you agree to cookies on many of my blogs that probably mean I have lost views.

This was an eu law that at the time may have seemed a good idea but makes most sites rubbish.

I suspect the less you put on your site to bug people would be the way to go.

I am sure that those under 18 never enter sites that say 18 plus on them in the same way when I was 14 I never looked at porn on vhs at my mates when his uncle put it on for us and gave me sweets to simply jump up and down on his lap for some reason. It is why I got fat as a kid.

.

Does the EU actually enforce this cookie popup? Or is it by complaints?

Does the EU popup enforcement squad contact the host/registrar for a takedown?

I suppose if it's not hosted or domained in the EU they can't really do anything.

I've never heard of anyone having any contact over this and I've never bothered with it myself. It's a stupid law that breaks the internet, making you click on something before you can use the web page you already clicked a link to get to. We were supposed to be dropping the law in the UK but of course our useless sack of shit government hasn't gotten round to doing anything useful like that yet.

On the other side of the coin, as a surfer, I use an extension called 'I don't care about cookies'

Meaning I never see anything that I might have to agree to popping up... I haven't seen one of those 'accept cookies' things in years...

Nobody gives a shit about it, except if you run adsense on a site, then google does requires to show it for EU visitors.. not sure if they are ever verifying it tho..

I have been asking the same questions. I have a blog that contains some hardcore pages and some that just discuss adult issues. I would like a WordPress plugin that allows you to show the age popup for only the pages that contain nudity or hardcore content. It seems that this paid for plugin does this, but I haven't tried it yet : https://elfsight.com/age-verification-widget/wordpress/

I also want it to be geo-specific, so it can display the popup to visitors from the UK and some other prudish countries, but not others. I'm not sure if the above elfsight plugin can do that.

I am considering paying somebody to write me a WordPress age verification plugin that can both display it only on certain pages, and be geo-specific. Does anybody know a developer who could do that, and how much it would cost?
