It's all about the Canon 10D. It's $1500 but you will be amazed with the quality. Nothing really comes close.

if you like the olympus, go with the new c-5050. one thing that disappointed me was the 3000's lens and lighting issues. the 5050 should helpt that out a little bit as well with the f/1.8 lens. or, go with a nikon 5700...

been looking into those new canon's... and they look very intriguing. i've just always been a nikon person, and not sure if i can just up and switch to a new system :(

Or if you want something cheap that will still blow your mind, I'd go with a second-hand Canon D30. It's the previous model to the 10D, 3.2 megapixel instead of 6.1... and a less advanced autofocus system. You can find them for about $800.

You can switch easily as long as you don't have some huge investment in Nikon glass already. Personally I'm more impressed with the quality of Canon products than Nikon... although they both have some nice stuff.

There was the D30 in between those, and plenty of sophistications and improvements at every step. I would rather get a $1500 10D than a used D30.
