Fuck you all - I'm off to the gravel pits.

<img src=http://www.sleazydream.com/banners/yard/009.jpg>

renting a couple of quads for the weekend - thinking of buying them (one's I'd buy would be new and bigger moters than these ones)

picked them up yesterday with my pop - my Dad was kinda whinning all the way to the rental place - thinknig it was a big waste of time. He got on one and I followed on the other, thinking I shouldn't have brought him. 1/2 mile down the gravel road he lost his hat and I picked it up and brought it to him. He had the BIGGEST SMILE on his face and all he could say was 'THIS IS FUN"

well screw GFY, I'm off to the gravel pits with them.

tough initiation into the Pathfinder GIBro crew

I've got a 2000 Honda FourTrax. Pretty nice machines.

:thumbsup

Trouble is they always come out with bigger and better ones every year.

The new ones are pretty stable. It's the old 3 wheelers that used to roll at the drop of a hat.

(unless you go up major hills or ride with a passenger)

ATV's Rule!

I have been working on this one since last fall:

Also if you are going to buy a quad for riding in the gravel pits you should look into a sport atv rather than the utility quads you rented.

LMK if you need any help picking a bike.. . :thumbsup

galleryseek 05-24-2003 12:20 PM

this local kid around here was riding one in the woods and hit a tree or some shit, and it flew up and landed on top of him and when someone found him he lost a ton amount of blood and he might have brain damage now, fucked up

Very, VERY stable machines. these were a 2000 and 2001 polaris 400's - was a 2cycle and the other a 4cycle.

suweet :) i love a full day out on the quads - nothing but fun...

markell 05-24-2003 07:28 PM

in north vegas, its like everyone has quads. shit people drive those things around like cars. Im thinking about getting 2 in july anyone have any suggestions?

evildick 05-24-2003 07:37 PM

Do you want to go fast or play in the mud?

If you want to go fast then get a sport ATV. I haven't looked at the newer models for years, but the most reliable used to be the Honda 400 EX. I'm sure there's something bigger and better by now.

If you want to goof around on trails and go through mud and such then the new Honda Rincon is supposed to be great. 650 cc and fully independent rear suspension. Most of the utility type 4X4's max out around 50 or 60 MPH though.

jim manly 05-24-2003 07:41 PM

You guys are making me want to go out and buy myself a Raptor. Been wanting to since I sold my little blaster for 500 bucks that I beat the hell out of. Had so much fun on that over my teen years. :(

We did both - speed and mud. mostly expoloring the gravel roads and road allowances though the bush.
50-60mph on side gravel roads is more than enough. these units did about 55mph topped out.

I'm a comfort hound more than a speed demon and these units were very comfortable. no gears - just gas and brake. the way i like it.

evildick 05-24-2003 08:04 PM

Ya, I personally prefer the utility type quads over the sport, I hate fucking around with a clutch. On mine you still have to shift gears, but at least there's no clutch.

I don't think I would want to go much faster than 60 MPH on one either.

A friend of mine has a Polaris 400 4X4. He's had to pull me out a few times with his winch.
