just picked up this little gem

The FW900's 22.5" viewable flat-screen display supports resolutions up to 2304 x 1440 at 80Hz and achieves optimum display capabilities at 1920 x 1200 at 85Hz making images more realistic and colors extremely accurate. A high contrast screen coating reduces eyestrain by reflecting unwanted light away from your line of vision, and a 0.23mm aperture grille pitch produces a top-of-the-line image. Enhancing the relastic images is the HiDensity Electron Gun with Enhanced Elliptical Correction System ensuring consistent accurate focus across the entire screen - even in the corners. An integrated USB hub makes connecting all your USB peripherals a snap and reduces clutter on your desk. The FW900 produces scan ranges of 30kHz - 121kHz horizontal and 48Hz - 160Hz vertical. Front panel digital controls and the on-screen display let you adjust brightness, contrast, H/V size and position, zoom, raster rotation, pincushion, pin balance, keystone, key balance, color temperature, moire and more. The DisplayMouse OSD menu control simplifies setup, troubleshooting and adjustment

This wide-screen display meets the exacting demands of graphic artists, CAD/CAM engineers, animators and professional users who require extraordinarily accurate colors and crystal-clear images.

24? Flat Trinitron CRT wide screen display

Digital Multiscan Technology

0.23mm Aperture grille pitch (minimum)

Dual inputs support multiple PC usage

4 Port USB Hub

The 24" FD Trinitron® CRT display offers an incredible 22.5" viewable image size in about the same desktop space as most 21" models, making it ideal for viewing double-page layouts on a single screen. Contemporary styling in shades of metallic silver and dark gray will appeal to refined design sensibilities.

out with the old, in with the new. :)

CRTs give far better clarity than LCDs... so for me, CRT is still the shiznit.

I think Sony advertises $1999... I got it for a little less, but with shipping to the islands, it evened out right around $1900.

that's cool, if you actually go places..... my notebook has done nothing but collect dust since May of 1999. I never go anywhere.

detoxed 05-23-2003 07:09 PM

Za Ha 05-23-2003 07:09 PM

Should of gotten one of these

http://www.samsung.ca/en/pictures/pr...pc21pbss_l.jpg

21 in LCD, but then again u design so CRT is better...

Close price too, its like 3000 canadain so more or less the same what u paid...

Amputate Your Head 05-23-2003 07:10 PM

Next on the agenda is to replace the monitors for the rest of the systems here with standard LCDs.... only use 'em for menial tasks so perfect image clarity isn't a priority on those, and space is more valuable. Time for a Costco run... hehehe

nice... but what is that shit on the sides? Speakers? I hate built in speakers. I'm running a full on external Bose audio system here. (just for the office... the rest of the house has a better system) Monitors with speakers hanging off them are gay.

Za Ha 05-23-2003 07:15 PM

Ya, I think you could cut them off somehow lol

Amputate Your Head 05-23-2003 07:25 PM

thanks for hooking me up with the link for this screen bro... (you know who you are) Should get here sometime next week.... and none too soon. :thumbsup

Have a good long holiday weekend everyone.... I'm gonna grab da board and go catch a wave or two..... :)

The images you create and view on this monitor will be excellent I am sure, but remember, you will be the only person on the internet that will be able to enjoy them with such clarity because the rest of us live in the real world.:)

that's fine.... the electronic dumbing down of work via poor equipment for the end user is acceptable... but creating in a shit environment from stage 1 as a justification for what you just said, is not.

I'll still take the big ass monitor thanks... :winkwink:

I don't see how a CRT is better than a LCD in designing.

My Samsung LCD beats both my Trinitron and NEC/Multisync CRTs.

I am finding your off topic analogies a little confusing, but here goes *takes a deep breath*.

You are saying the quality of your work will improve if you?

Sell your 40 GB drive and buy a 60 GB drive.

Sell your 2 GHz proc. And buy a 2.5 GHz proc.

Sell your 17? monitor and buy a 24? monitor.

Sell your 750W ups and buy a 1000W ups.

Sell your 5 Mega pixel Camera and buy a 6 Mega pixel Camera.

Sell your stereo speakers and buy quad speakers.

If this is what you believe then I respect your choice of monitor and whish you productive days and nights with it.:thumbsup

It's all about the tools. Does a Sanyo Walkman with ear units sound as good as a full Middle Atlantic rack system, Denon THX pushing Krell monoblocks? I don't think so. My analogies may be a little extreme, but you get the idea. Will a 24" monitor improve my audio mixing abilities? Probly not. Will it help me define cleaner image cuts? Maybe.

I now understand where you are coming from. I am off to buy some of the same golf sticks that Tiger Woods uses and make millions. Can you find me the addresses of some Hawaiian real estate companies because it looks like I will need their services soon. Thanks in advance.:2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents: :2 cents:

No, I don't think you do understand where I'm coming from, in the least. And your attempt at sarcasm is weak at best. My gut is telling me that you're probably very early 20's (if that) and you lack the ability to recognize how better quality tools improve upon the work output. But you'll learn.... eventually. It may take 15 years, but you'll learn.

And if you ever are in the market for Hawaiian real estate (or anywhere else for that matter), I can help you with that. Of course it'll take 6 months to process your loans because this company didn't feel that improved tools would help them improve their work, so they're still adding figures on an abacus. Who needs computers anyway right? :)

Idiot.

If you would like to improve your psychic reading abilities may I suggest a crystal ball? Not one of those lame glass things but a ball made from meteorite shock quartz, this will improve your super natural abilities for sure.:)

FATPad 05-23-2003 10:06 PM

A 24" kickass monitor wouldn't do me any good when it comes to design, that is true.

But for a full time designer who's pretty damn good, it would probably help.

So better tools don't necessarily mean better work, but better tools in the right hands probably would.

*shrugs*

I only use the lame glass model. It works just fine. I don't see how the meteorite model can possibly improve upon it.

nah Amp doesn't need to sell to buy the new shit. He just gives it to the neighborhood kids to play with because he KNOWS WHAT HE"S FUCKING DOING! You gotta love the newbie morons that haven't a clue what people's abilities are. If Amp says his designs will be better (not sure how he can improve on damn near perfect) then they will be because Amp knows his schitz.
