Obnoxious Homeowners Associations
I'm looking for creative ways to harass my obnoxious homeowners association. I'm looking for legal things that I can do to fully annoy them without them having any legal recourse to stop me so that I can then offer to knock off my annoying activity in exchange for them knocking off their annoying activity. Anyone got any good legal ways to legally annoy a neighborhood association?

Do they have a public pool? Go swimming in your thong. Actually, every time you go outside, wear a thong.
Dig up your grass and gravel your entire lawn, and add in some pink flamingos for good measure. Pretend to be a Jehovah's Witness and try to convert all your neighbours. Declare the air space over your house a "no fly zone" and threaten to shoot down anyone that flies over it. Just a few off the top of my head. |
Mount a flag bracket to the front of your place, and fly a POW/MIA flag out front.....
HOA's hate anything that isn't uniform with everyone else. |
Hey, I am Connor (, Lawrence) ! :)
Paint your house bright green with large purple polka dots. :)

start a cult from your house.
a naked fat chick cult. again try and convert all your neighbours :1orglaugh |

I saw on a UK news show about a couple who wanted to be buried in their back yard and had an agreement between them that whoever outlives the other would honor their burial request. The wife died first so the husband made the necessary legal arrangements to have her buried in the back yard. However, his obnoxious homeowners association blocked it using a law about devaluing neighborhood house prices. He was so mad that he had her body mummified, and she now sits in a large front window endlessly watching over his neighbors. Can you get your hands on a cadaver?:thumbsup

put out stobe lights and a fog machine... a gallon of fog juice lasts a long time
and if you run the fog thru some dryer vent hose that goes thru a cooler filled with ice, the fog stays on the ground like in the old classic horror movies are you in las vegas? i can do all kinds of theatrical horror shit... would totaly fuck with that HOA |
Shoot porn in your backyard. Usually does the trick. Make the fences high enough to not get arrested for kids hearing or seeing it - but be real obvious about it.
I.E. - Make out with models scantilly dressed on your sidewalk, have everyone talk real loud about porn shoot stories, overstuff the driveway with cars, shoot the pretty girl pictures on the front lawn, hire only screaming orgasm models... etc. All the neighbors will move. Trust me. |

you really do live in va beach don't ya!
only place I know that has the worst homeowner assoc. |
Buy about 50 plastic pink lawn flamingos, and create a "flock" in your front yard. Lawn gnomes often move into a front yard with pink flamingos too... by the dozens.
Most CC&Rs don't say anything about pink plastic flamingos or lawn gnomes, so you're probably pretty safe there. |

Some dude out east I think just painted his house purple with polka-dots, I've always wanted to do that to piss off the neighbors. |
Get a few old junker cars and park them on the street in front of other people's houses. For some reason people tend to go really crazy about eyesore cars parked in front of their houses and it's perfectly legal as long as you drive the cars once in a while.

But here's the problem. I did hire a lawyer, and virtually ALL case law favors the association. And I mean stupid cases like whether or not people can have pets. The association always won. The ONLY way I was able to get back at them was by selling the properties and stopping payment on the last checks I sent them. But, in the meantime, be VERY CAREFUL about getting into a war with them. These people are very petty and they WILL make your life miserable. They will fine you to death if you do some of the things mentioned above. And they can get away with it because they DO have the advantage legally. The only real solution is to sell and get out. And they can make that very difficult as well. I'll NEVER buy an association property again. It's insane to get into a situation where someone else can tell you what you can do with your property. I learned that lesson the hard way. |
