Bottom line is that the Koran is a collection of speaches Mohammed gave to his people that were direct quotes delivered to him by the angel Gabriel as spoken from God.

God's word, which makes up the Koran, was delivered over a period of years to direct the people as to what they needed to know, learn or do at any given time.

For instance, Muhammed was a military leader, the Jews controled Mecca and Medina, thus God told Muhammed that the Jews were evil doers and those who would die fighting evil doers would have eternal salvation.

The Bible shares many similarities. Well, the Torah does. After all, the first 5 books of the bible are primarily what God told Moses so the chosen people whould know what to learn, do or act like at any given time. But, the rest of the bible is a collection of writings that spread over a couple of thousands of years. And none of the bible is meant to be the "Word of God" as the Muslims beleive the Koran is.

The bible is referenced many times in the Koran as God attempts to explain how the Jews and Christians misinterpreted his word. The Koran explains time and time again how many of the things man wrote in the Bible are incorrect.

I have never read quran but as far as I know quran says don't eat pork because it has high risk of disease (pigs live in a dirty environment, eat its own shit etc.) But now, pigs live in nice farms with high desease controls, so i don't think it is againist to the religion to eat pork anymore. I still don't eat though.

Again as far as I know, Quran says do not pray when you are under the influence of alcohol (muslim's supposed to pray 5 times a day). So, if you are not praying 5 times a day, than you don't really need to stay away from alcohol.

My father read all of the holy books, and told me not to read any of them because they are full of bullshit. He says torah (spelling?) is the worse one in terms of bullshitness :)

Read it about a year ago, can't say it was much fun but you will enjoy being a smartass the next time you discuss Islam. Overall the koran is a fucked up book, but I have to say the Old testament is worse. You will find some similarities, my guess is that the person who wrote the koran probably had a bible by his side.

if you want read other religion books, first contact with a real people, who believes it (Muslim or Jewish or Christian). They will tell you truth and why.
