With this and all the AI happening, how long before Skynet becomes self aware? |
all joking aside, i have just ordered a bluetooth plugin, called the t link some number... I though - oh look! hes ordered one too ! lol

It looks like a fake video made with objects made of plasticine.
Publish the same video on YouTube without any "serious" reference and everyone thinks it's fake |

Its cum! So i took a pic of it propped up against a nice dry poo that has been congealing on my desk for a while :thumbsup |
We are very far from self awareness. Even models like GPT3 are just transformers very good at predicting the next words in a chain of text, while keeping track of the context. So it is just a very good prediction algorithm, not a sentient being. My guess is problems could get real when they will combine different AI. This is how our brains work. We have a language center, an image recognition center... So, maybe in a decade or so?
Note that the concept of combining multiples AI already exist. The GAN's (Generative adversarial network) for example. Those are the models most likely used to generate all those images of hot chicks I have seen in other posts on this forum. The GAN's are in fact 2 AI working again each other: one that creates images, and one that tries to detect bad images. But there is still a long way between that and a metal skeleton wielding a machine gun... At least I hope so. |

I think that there might be 2 ways to "score" a machine. The first is done by us regular folks via a "Turing Test". #1. The Turing test works by having a human evaluator like you conduct a natural language conversation with two entities - a human, and a computer. You would not know which entity is the human and which is the machine. The goal of the machine is to try to convince the evaluator that it is the human, while the goal of the human is to convince tyou that it is not the machine. So today, perhaps you could tell which was which. But soon, withing a year I bet, you would not be able to tell. So the question is this: If you (or I, or anyone else) could no longer tell which was which, then, What is the difference? Both have good answers for you, both claim to be self aware to you, so, in your opinion, would the AI be self aware? #2. Real Experts in the field would use Behavioral analysis, Phenomenological approaches: and Integrated information theory (I had to lookup that last one) to determine if it was self aware. I fully expect that we will have true self aware machines in the next 2 years. |

already is happening... :helpme |

Your #2 was vers interesting to read. I personaly think that the real danger will come when an AI will be able to think: fix ils ont objectives, decide and act on it. And all I am saying is that none of the models I know can do that. But hey, there might be one in à classified military facility somewhere to prove me wrong... |
