Chips n' Fries deadly?
 

My chemistry teacher was going on today about the fact that potato chips, french fries, and even cereals are potentially deadly.

Potato chips, french friends, and cereals like Cheerios contain potato, which contains starch. When you heat starch at very high temperatures it converts the starch to a very deadly carcinogen called acrylamide.

If 0.12mg of acrylamide is found in water, which is tested every day, a boiling water advisory will be placed or an advisory against drinking any water will be done.

Here are some details about acrylamide:
~50.0mg - found per serving (couple of chips) of Potato Chips
~32.0mg - found per serving of fries
~30.0mg - found per serving of Cheerios

This is shocking considering that only 0.12mg of acrylamide can set off a water advisory, while each of ther above contain atleast 2 times the amount, and that's per serving!

KFC is also going to be the first to put a warning label on boxes of french fries pertaining to the acrylamide issue.

How deadly can they be when millions of people eat them every day and don't die?

Acrylamide causes the most deadly cancers, such as liver and bowel cancer. You cannot cure/stop these types of cancers. You can't do anything about it once you've gone to the doctor to get checked to find out you have bowel/liver cancer.

Both bowel and liver cancer have been on a large increase throughout the years since fries and chips have become popular amoung the North American people.

Add milk or lemon.

Cancer rates have been growing exponentially. Acrylamide is certainly part of the equation.

Considering the fact that vegetarians received $10 million for consuming fries that were cooked with fat that contained meat, I believe that there is a potential for people to sue regarding deaths caused by acrylamide.

Americans sue for the slightest reasons.

And some US webmasters run sites as if they are immune from it.

Go figure.

odlly enough after reading this, i was considering not eating those things again. but this is as i'm sitting here smoking my 14th ciggarette of the day. hmmm how ironic.
